With the release of Death Standing and the subsequent confirmation of its 2020 launch on PC, speculation regarding Sony's future plans for PC has gone wild. That's despite Sony being completely uninvolved with Death Stranding's publication on PC. Nevertheless, the appearance of what seemed to be a PS4 exclusive with a PC release date caused fans to go a little stir crazy.  New rumors about PS4 games being ported to PC are spreading as a result, like for example a now-viral rumor that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC.

The rumor itself originates from Russian content creator Anton Logvinov, who claims to have insider information about Horizon Zero Dawn and PlayStation's future plans in general. Logvinov states without detail that Horizon Zero Dawn will be available on PC starting February 2020. No other details about the possible PC port were provided, like if the game would be brought to PC, the Epic Games Store, or otherwise.

Even more interesting, however, maybe be Logvinov's later comments. He goes on to say that he has been talking with multiple different developers who are working on projects for the PlayStation 5. These PS5 game developers are apparently being told by Sony to keep the PC in mind as they're developing their games. The insinuation being that those developing games for the PS5 may have the opportunity to port their games to PC afterward.

It must be made clear that Logvinov doesn't provide any meaningful evidence to the truthfulness of his statements. Logvinov also doesn't have any sort of history regarding sharing insider information or leaks. As such, as interesting as these rumors are, they should be considered entirely unreliable until further evidence is provided. Luckily, Logvinov claims that the announcement will be made relatively soon, perhaps implying a reveal at The Game Awards 2019.

What's especially interesting about this Horizon Zero Dawn rumor and the speculation about Sony considering porting games to PC is the positivity surrounding the possibility. It's not just an industry-level conversation regarding Sony responding to Microsoft's movement on the PC platform. It's genuine excitement from PlayStation fans regarding the possibility of first-party Sony games being released on PC. If there's any truth to these rumors, it stems from that excitement. Sony would be making a mistake not to acknowledge it.

Horizon Zero Dawn is available now exclusively on PS4.
