Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC comes with a reference to another Sony first-party game The Last of Us Part 2. Burning Shores is an expansion to Horizon Forbidden West that takes place after the events of the base game, so gamers are required to finish the main story to access the new content. Additionally, players should note that Burning Shores is only available on PS5, despite Horizon Forbidden West releasing on both PS4 and PS5.
Many of Sony’s exclusive titles include easter eggs for other PlayStation franchises, and the same was true in Horizon Forbidden West when it launched in 2022. As an example, one gamer found a neat God of War easter egg in Horizon Forbidden West, featuring small sculptures of Brok and Sindri. Now, another fan finds a reference to The Last of Us Part 2 in the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West.
As reported by PlayStation LifeStyle, and originally discovered by a Reddit user named AlbusDumbldor, the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West features the Toy Bow from The Last of Us Part 2. For those unaware, users get to play with the bow during the aquarium sequence in The Last of Us Part 2. As seen in the image shared by AlbusDumbldor, the Toy Bow in Burning Shores needs Toy Arrows as ammo, and fans can craft these arrows using a fairly minimal number of resources.
The player has also shared information about the Toy Bow’s location in the DLC, confirming that gamers can acquire it from the given spot in the map of Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. The Reddit poster perhaps jokingly calls it the greatest weapon in the Burning Shores expansion, but it looks like they were unaware of its connection to The Last of Us Part 2. The Burning Shores DLC probably includes even more references to other PlayStation franchises, but it may take some time for fans to discover all of them.
While the Toy Bow is a neat easter egg, developer Guerrilla Games also added a bunch of legendary weapons to the Burning Shores DLC of Horizon Forbidden West. Some of these legendary weapons can be purchased from vendors, while others are given as rewards for completing quests. It looks like many of these weapons require players to trade in 3,000 Metal Shards and eight pieces of Brimshine, so fans may want to save these precious resources.
Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
