- The event is based on an entertaining meme and sees players getting extra rewards for doing well in daily challenges.
The setting for Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.4 brings players back to the Xianzhou Luofu. After dealing with the Stellaron crisis, the Trailblazer is back to attend the Xianzhou Wardance and defend the region from the fearsome borisin, a werewolf-like race. Honkai: Star Rail also prepared exciting missions and limited-time events to help fans farm for Stellar Jades and materials.
One interesting event is Operation Memoria Snapshot, where Honkai: Star Rail fans are tasked to take photos of Lordly Trashcans, which are sentient trash cans with big muscles, scattered around Xianzhou Luofu. It's a pretty simple activity, but requires players' full attention and quickness to snap photos at the right time.
Honkai: Star Rail's Event Takes the Beloved Trash Can Meme to the Next Level
Probably the most popular joke in Honkai: Star Rail is the Trailblazer's weird obsession with trash cans. This is first shown during the Jarilo-VI adventure, where players can receive an achievement by interacting with all the trash cans in Belobog City. When the Astral Express Crew arrives in Penacony, the Trailblazer starts encountering Lordly Trashcans in the Dreamscape.
Lordly Trashcan is essentially a trash can with muscular legs and arms that gives riddles whenever the Trailblazer encounters it. If they answer them wrong, the Trashcan can trigger a battle and deal significant damage to characters. It's a peculiar creature mostly formed in fictional worlds, which is why it usually appears in Penacony's Dreamscape to seek formidable warriors to battle with and help them eliminate all trash in the world.
In Operation Memoria Snapshot, the Trailblazer meets Randolph, a trainee doctor and aspiring photographer, who's researching "psychological trash" around Xianzhou Luofu. He likens it to the memoria present in Penacony's Dreamscape, and how it's possible for this phenomenon to exist in the Xianzhou and wants to take photos to prove his theory.
Randolph is located at the Starskiff Haven in Xianzhou Luofu.
How Honkai: Star Rail Operation Memoria Snapshot Works
Operation Memoria Snapshot is a limited-time event that requires players to do Randolph's daily missions for six days straight. Once it begins, players will jump into a side-scrolling mini-game where they have to focus and click the camera to capture bronze, silver, and gold Lordly Trashcans. Each type corresponds to specific points, and players can get better awards if they get three stars in the daily photography challenge.
- Bronze Trashcan: 100 points
- Silver Trashcan: 150 points
- Gold Trashcan: 200 points, extra 100 points for special poses
The event's mechanics seem easy enough, but it can get challenging because the Lordly Trashcans are usually moving around the area and even falling from high places. A lot of them also pop out from the distance, which are pretty easy to miss if players aren't paying close attention; and surprising players by suddenly coming out of doors or landing on the pavement. Plus, due to the time limit of Operation Memoria Snapshot, Honkai: Star Rail fans are encouraged to finish the photography missions before it ends in order to get all the rewards.
