Honkai: Star Rail's Penacony has come to a satisfying end, and it's time for the Astral Express Crew to embark on a brand-new adventure to the next world. Developer HoYoverse is known for creating unique worlds inspired by real places and fictional pieces, like Greek and Roman mythology. For Honkai: Star Rail's fourth world, there are rumors that it might be connected to "Thermae," which is an ancient Greek and Roman hot spring.
Among all the HoYoverse titles so far, Honkai: Star Rail seems to have the most freedom in its locations as it's set in space, where there are many planets in its vast universe. Honkai: Star Rail's worlds so far have all been unique in their own way, and if the rumors about the next world are accurate, then fans might be in for a treat.
What is Known About Honkai: Star Rail's Fourth World
At the end of the "Farewell, Penacony" story quest, the Astral Express Crew starts discussing where they will go next, naming worlds like Lushaka and Melustanin as possible destinations. Black Swan interjects and suggests going to Amphoreus, a planet where even Akivili the Trailblaze never reached. It's said that it's hidden away from outside view and can only be seen through the light of the Garden of Recollection's mirrors.
- Amphoreus: Honkai: Star Rail's fourth world, as suggested by Black Swan.
In ancient Greek, Amphoreus refers to a type of container that can hold up to nine gallons of liquid. Its Japanese name, "onparosu," also means "omphalos," which is a religious stone artifact that represents the navel of the Earth in ancient Greek. In other words, it's the Earth's core, which is the hottest part of the planet and matches with the rumor that the next world would be Thermae-inspired.
Meanwhile, there are hints that the Thermae-inspired elements might be pointing at a world with Greek and Roman-inspired architecture. There's also some speculation that 5-star character Dr. Ratio might be connected to the next world because his first name is Veritas, who is the Roman goddess of truth. The marble statues that he conjures during battle and the marble head that he often wears are also heavily inspired by Greek and Roman sculptures.
Interestingly, Dr. Ratio's bio states that his home planet is simply "Cosmic," so it's still unknown where he came from.
The Possible Gimmicks of the Fourth World Amphoreus
Based on leaks, Honkai: Star Rail's fourth world will reportedly involve some form of "time bending," which might potentially give players the ability to control time while exploring the world and fighting enemies. This seems to be quite similar to Penacony's theme of clockwork, but Honkai: Star Rail might improve it for Amphoreus.
One interesting gimmick that Honkai: Star Rail could pull off in Amphoreus is to play around the concept of temperature, especially fire, because of the supposed Thermae theme. This could mean having more Fire-type characters, or characters who have the special ability to control the elements on the planet. With Amphoreus' mysterious vibe, it's only fitting for its inhabitants to surprise Honkai: Star Rail players with abilities that could shake up the meta even further.
When Will Honkai: Star Rail Launch the Fourth World, Amphoreus?
There's no news yet as to when Honkai: Star Rail will launch Amphoreus, but it's safe to assume that it might come out in Version 3.0. For now, Honkai: Star Rail fans will experience a transition period with missions to accomplish at the Xianzhou Luofu, where they will encounter several new characters and even March 7th's new DPS form.
- Potential release date for Amphoreus: Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 later this year or 2025.
It's also important to remember that many of the leaks about Amphoreus are still subject to change, especially the Thermae-inspired elements. But if Honkai: Star Rail pushes through with a Greek and Roman-inspired world, fans could expect a very picturesque map.
