Honkai: Star Rail has revealed Boothill as a new playable character, confirming his path and rarity in a drip marketing campaign. Boothill will be one of the obtainable units in version 2.2, which should be released in May 2024, based on HoYoverse's usual update schedule. Alongside the cowboy-themed unit, Honkai: Star Rail version 2.2 will promote Robin, a recurring character in the Penacony story. One thing to note is that players will get more information about these units in the official livestream that will take place on March 16.
Honkai: Star Rail gets new characters added to its playable cast in every version. Two of these units always have the same five-star rarity and appear in different parts of the update. They are obtained through event-exclusive banners that remain available for 21 days.

Honkai: Star Rail dropped the official drip marketing campaign for Boothill, confirming he is a five-star Physical unit that hails from the Path of Hunt. Although this marketing campaign lacks information about Boothill's kit, it gives fans a glimpse into his design, showing his western, cowboy-themed outfit that sets him apart from other male units in the game. He wears black cowboy shoes, trousers, and a brown leg belt. Besides, the character seems to have mecha arms, which makes him look more scary.

Honkai: Star Rail's Boothill is rumored to be a main DPS whose skill triggers a special combat mode and grants him an ATK buff. The cowboy-themed Penacony character has a powerful ultimate, which delays enemies' turns and makes them vulnerable to physical damage. As of writing, no further details have been revealed about Boothill's skill set.
Though Honkai: Star Rail is in the second part of version 2.0, the developers have already confirmed a new five-star character for 2.2, Robin, who treads the Path of Harmony. Robin's kit has yet to be revealed, but information provided by leakers suggested that she specializes in increasing her allies' damage for several turns. In addition, it was revealed that the character's talent boosts her speed and CRIT damage.
Before Robin and Boothill make their debut in 2.2, Honkai: Star Rail 2.1 will mark the arrival of new characters: Acheron, Gallagher, and Aventurine, who play a large role in the ongoing Penacony story. As per some early leaks, the first portion of this version will feature Acheron, while the second will introduce Aventurine and Gallagher to the game's playable cast. Their signature weapons will also be included on event-exclusive banners in update 2.1. As usual, all event banners, including the one that promotes rerun units, will be time-limited to three weeks.
