A recent Honkai: Star Rail leak suggested that the game has no plans to release new 4-Star characters in upcoming updates. Honkai: Star Rail releases new characters almost every update, but the latest patches have only debuted 5-Star units, causing discomfort among fans.
Honkai: Star Rail recently launched its 3.3 update, which added the 5-Star characters Hyacine and Cypher to the playable roster. Although the release of these Chrysos Heirs was highly anticipated, fans have still criticized the game's lack of new 4-Star characters in the patch. This phenomenon has been going on for a while now, as Honkai: Star Rail hasn't debuted any 4-Stars since Moze, released in September 2024. For this reason, fans have been wondering when HoYoverse could unveil a new 4-Star unit. Unfortunately for players, a recent leak has shared some discouraging news on the matter.
Honkai: Star Rail Leaks Major Buffs to Jingliu, Blade, Silver Wolf, and Kafka
A new Honkai: Star Rail leak reveals buffs for four characters - Jingliu, Blade, Silver Wolf, and Kafka - in the next 3.4 update.
A report from reliable leaker SakuraHaven has given an update on Honkai: Star Rail's character lineup, revealing that there aren't any 4-Star characters in development. This would mean that there won't be any new 4-Star additions during Versions 3.5 or 3.6. There are only 23 four-star characters in Honkai: Star Rail, while the number of 5-Stars exceeds 40. There are rumors that even more five-stars are underway during the Amphoreus storyline, including potential March 7th and Dan Heng variants. If the leaks turn out to be true, the disparity between 4-Stars and 5-Stars would only get drastically bigger.
Honkai: Star Rail Leak Reveals Lack of 4-Star Characters for Future Patches
Despite the game's lack of 4-Star units, recent Honkai: Star Rail patches have offered free character selectors through limited events. For example, the ongoing 3.3 patch lets players choose between Gallagher, Misha, Hanya, or Xueyi as a reward. While these recurring events can help players collect free Eidolons, several fans share that they've exceeded the limit of Eidolons for many 4-Star units, especially early characters from Belobog and the Xianzhou Luofu. Many players have been hoping that fan-favorite NPCs like Mr. Reca could become playable soon, but it seems that won't be the case. On the other hand, Honkai: Star Rail recently teased big plans for later updates, so hopefully the 4-Star drought could be addressed.
HoYoverse has confirmed three character debuts for Version 3.4, including the 5-Star Destruction character Phainon, arguably the most awaited release of the 3.0 cycle. The upcoming patch will also feature Honkai: Star Rail's collaboration with Fate/Stay Night, with the anime characters Saber and Archer becoming playable. Both are limited 5-Star units with their corresponding signature Light Cones. Moreover, all players will be able to claim a free copy of Archer by logging into Honkai: Star Rail during the event.
