Summary
- Phainon in Honkai: Star Rail might have two forms, one being a potential playable character and the other an Elite boss.
- The game's new update will introduce Amphoreus and the Crysos Heirs, with Phainon possibly having a connection to an existing Honkai Impact character.
- Rumors suggest that Phainon could be both playable and an Elite boss in-game, with similarities to other characters who have dual forms.
A new Honkai: Star Rail leak has revealed that Phainon, one of Amphoreus' upcoming characters, may have two different forms in-game, including a standard one and a boss one. Honkai: Star Rail will soon introduce Amphoreus, the game's next main explorable planet that hosts the Crysos Heirs.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 will transport players to the world of Amphoreus, otherwise known as The Eternal Land. The update will introduce a new faction called the Crysos Heirs that will likely play a key role in the next Trailblaze Mission. As previously revealed by Honkai: Star Rail, among the Crysos Heirs is Phainon, a mysterious male character rumored to become playable in later patches. Very little is known about Phainon, but a recent leak points to his potential in-game role in Version 3.0.
A recent leak from HomDGCat reported that Phainon would have a second form in-game named Demiurge. This second form could potentially be related to an enemy boss, as well. Earlier Honkai: Star Rail leaks about Amphoreus characters suggested that Phainon and the rest of the teased characters would eventually join the playable roster as 5-star units. If the rumors turn out to be true, Phainon would be both playable and an Elite boss in-game. HomDGCat did not detail whether Phainon's Demiurge form would change his human-like design or not, but Honkai: Star Rail has experience using this two-form formula regardless. For example, characters like Argenti and Kafka are both playable units and enemy bosses that carry the same in-game model for both scenarios. Meanwhile, Sunday's boss is a complete transformation of his normal playable model.
Who is Honkai: Star Rail's Phainon?
As an element of HoYoverse's multiverse, Honkai: Star Rail has several versions of Honkai Impact 3rd characters. These counterparts are known as Expys among fans. While Seele and Bronya maintain their names in both games, other characters like Luocha only have their looks as an indicator of being Expys. Phainon bears a striking resemblance to Honkai Impact 3rd's Kevin Kaslana, so players have speculated that he'll be the next counterpart introduced. Moreover, the Amphoreus trailer mentions that Phainon is to "embark on the grand mission of deliverance." Honkai Impact 3rd players may remember that "Deliverance" is also Kevin Kaslana's codename, so this could be another reference to their link.
While Phainon is only rumored to become playable in the future, another member of the Crysos Heirs has been confirmed to join the roster in Version 3.0. Aglaea will be a 5-star Remembrance unit that will debut in Honkai: Star Rail's next banners alongside The Herta. Honkai: Star Rail's exciting Amphoreus chapter is coming to the game in January 2025.
