A new leak from Honkai: Star Rail confirms the existence of a scrapped version of five-star character Blade, said to be a Physical element character. The HoYoverse RPG has introduced a wide variety of characters since its debut, with several different options for players across its seven different Elements. Players can build their team with everything from the highest-ranking officials at the Xianzhou Luofu to the antagonistic Stellaron Hunters, acting as the game's main antagonists. Now, one popular character reportedly went through multiple different designs in testing.
First debuting with the Version 1.2 update, Blade served as the second playable member of Honkai: Star Rail's Stellaron Hunters, following Silver Wolf's release in Version 1.1. Blade plays heavily into the main story of the Xianzhou Luofu, connected to both starter character Dan Heng and the history of the China-themed world. Blade has also already received a re-run within Honkai: Star Rail, appearing alongside Ruan Mei during Version 1.6. A new leak now reveals a different version of Blade's kit that was left out from Star Rail.
Honkai: Star Rail Leaks Scrapped Version of Blade
An update shared by prominent HoYoverse leaker UBatcha hints at a scrapped version of Honkai: Star Rail's Blade. According to the post, a previous in-development version of Blade saw a similar kit to the Stellaron Hunter's full release, boasting the Physical element instead of Wind. The leak suggested that the kit may have been the re-appearance of a well-known test skillset for Honkai: Star Rail, referred to as "Dracula" internally. UBatcha also confirmed that the Physical Blade was not intended to be an alternate version of the character, like Version 1.3's Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae.
The axing of the Physical version of Blade would not be the first time that in-development content has not made the cut in Honkai: Star Rail. Ubatcha previously leaked a scrapped "dating sim" feature in Honkai: Star Rail that would have seen players taking characters like March 7th and Dan Heng on dates. Honkai: Star Rail has also frequently seen rumors about the potential for character skins to be added to the game, with a March 7th skin heavily teased that has yet to surface.
While the scrapped Blade may never come to light, Honkai: Star Rail has plenty in store for players in the near future. The upcoming Version 2.3 will introduce two brand-new characters to the RPG's roster, with both Firefly and Jade joining the game as new five-star characters. The update will also feature a new variant of the Simulated Universe called "Divergent Universe," as well as changes to popular ongoing game modes like Pure Fiction. Honkai: Star Rail's scrapped content gives an interesting look at what could have been in the massively popular sci-fi RPG.
