However, later on, HoYoverse attempts to make Break Effect a more relevant mechanic, starting by releasing Ruan Mei, who's the best character to bring if you're aiming to break the enemy's Toughness, then a Break Effect-centric character like Xueyi.

However, Break teams never truly became meta until the debut of Boothill, followed by Harmony MC and Firefly right after. Not only does Firefly hog the protagonist as her best support, but HoYoverse further spoils her by giving Firefly her own Relic Sets, which include the Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern. Fortunately, although it's designed for Firefly, Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern in Honkai: Star Rail is still viable for other characters.

Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern Set is oddly specific about buffing characters that are hitting enemies with Fire Weakness. Although anyone can use it as long as the enemy has Fire Weakness, players will likely bring a Fire character in this scenario, indirectly making the Set mostly work for Fire units in Honkai: Star Rail.

The 40% Break Effect buff stays for one turn, which makes it even harder for the equipping character to do anything with this buff unless they’re targeting an enemy with Fire Weakness.
