The Doomsday Beast is the first big 'boss' introduction of Honkai: Star Rail and it's very bombastic by design. Because of this visual flair, most players tend to just play it safe and take out both of the Beast's hands before even attempting to take out the Antimatter Engine.

But, if they reverse this process instead, there's an achievement waiting for them. So, let's go over the exact method and best way to go about getting this achievement in Honkai: Star Rail.

How To Unlock The Achievement

First off, let's be 100 percent sure what the task at hand is before going into it. The description of the Hit It Where It Hurts Most Achievement in the Eager for Battle category reads: 'Defeat the Antimatter Engine without defeating either of the Doomsday Beast's hands in Echo of War'.

That description pretty much says it all, thankfully. This task can be done in either the first or second Phase of the Doomsday Beast battle. In fact, because the achievement (which sadly only gives 5 Stellar Jades) doesn't require thoroughly defeating the Doomsday Beast, it's even more of a 'free' achievement than most of the other ones in the Eager for Battle category.

Where To Find Doomsday Beast

Now, players can absolutely unlock this achievement during the main story quest-related battle against the Doomsday Beast, whether on purpose or by accident. But, most players only notice this is even an achievement while they're scrounging around looking for any extra sources of Stellar Jade, so the majority get this done long after they've left the Herta Space Station.

To reencounter the Doomsday Beast, players just need to enter the Destruction's Beginning Echo of War in the Supply Zone of the Space Station. It'll 'cost' 30 Traiblaze Power to do this, but players will need to do this quite often anyway to get a steady supply of Materials to level up Character Traces.

Lastly, let's just go over a few things to know in order to make this whole process quick and easy as well as a few tricks to make the fight against the Doomsday Beast a total cakewalk:

  • Since the achievement is considered 'complete' as soon as the Antimatter Engine has been destroyed without also destroying either Hand, players can actually just use the Retreat function once this is done, save themselves some Trailblaze Power, and still unlock the achievement.
  • While the Doomsday Beast isn't necessarily hard, players might as well just do it on Difficulty 1 to make the whole process even easier.
  • Erudition Characters or Characters with powerful Follow-Up Attacks like Clara or Jing Yuan aren't really recommended for this, as they can easily accidentally kill either Hand in certain circumstances.
  • If players mess up and accidentally defeat a Hand before the Engine, they can either retreat and try again or simply just get the Beast to Phase 2 and try again there.
  • Remember Techniques and Consumables exist and are worth using, using a simple Attack-type Consumable and popping a few Techniques pre-battle can lower the difficulty of this task even further.
