HoYoverse would report over 20 million downloads of the game within 48 hours of its release and was recently nominated for "Best Mobile Game" at the 2023 Game Awards. However, some players are coming forward with a key criticism of the game.

One of the main forms of progression within Honkai: Star Rail comes with the in-game "Trailblaze Level" system. Players can earn Trailblaze EXP by completing a variety of tasks within Honkai: Star Rail ranging from progressing the game's main story and completing side quests to opening chests and clearing boss challenges. Each new Trailblaze Level also earns players a new reward from Astral Express conductor Pom-Pom, including gacha currency and in-game resources. Now, players are calling the rewards for reaching Level 70 into question.

A post shared to the Honkai: Star Rail subreddit by user Nightmoon22 shows off the lackluster rewards offered for reaching the max Trailblaze Level. Reaching Level 70 in Honkai: Star Rail rewards players with one Star Rail Pass for Honkai: Star Rail's gacha, along with a Fuel, 25 "Traveler's Guide" character EXP items, and 55,000 Credits. Notably, the rewards for hitting max level are not significantly higher than the previous leveling rewards within Star Rail, even giving less Star Rail Passes than some other rewards.

The replies to the post would see many others echoing the sentiment that Honkai: Star Rail does not do enough to reward players for reaching max level. Some fans compared the sub-par rewards to the level rewards from Genshin Impact, which have seen similar criticisms to Star Rail's leveling system. Other fans have suggested that the reward for reaching Trailblaze Level 70 should have been 10 Star Rail Passes for such a major milestone.
