Summary
- The developers of Honkai: Star Rail will buff characters from the standard banner before limited ones.
- HoYoverse recently announced that it would buff older characters to readjust the current meta.
A recent Honkai: Star Rail leak has revealed that characters from the standard banner would be the first to receive buffs in future updates. With the release of Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0, the game's current meta has been heavily affected by newer characters, but developers plan to balance older units sooner rather than later.
There are 64 playable units in Honkai: Star Rail, including the alternate Path versions of certain characters, like March 7th and the Trailblazer. In the game's early days, units like Inmibitor Lunae and Jingliu were considered top-tier damage dealers, but most of the current best DPS characters in Honkai: Star Rail were released starting from Version 2.0 and onward. Developers have acknowledged this issue, and have teased plans for solving the matter. Now, a new leak suggests that certain characters are getting reworked before others.
Why Honkai: Star Rail Shouldn't Make a Habit Out of Amphoreus' Roots in Greek Myth
Honkai: Star Rail's Amphoreus takes inspiration from Greek mythology, but it may risk blending in if it continues down a similar road.
A new report from GalaxyLeak has revealed that characters from the standard banner would be getting buffs before limited ones. The leak comes after HoYoverse confirmed that older Honkai: Star Rail characters will be receiving major buffs in the future. Some standard banner characters like Bronya and Gepard are still considered solid supports in combat. However, players have long asked for limited 5-star characters like Seele and Blade to be strengthened as well. The standard banner features seven characters and players may have pulled a few of them by losing their 50/50 in a limited banner before. Developers might likely focus on buffing these units for this reason as well.
Honkai: Star Rail Leak Reveals Standard Characters Are Getting Buffed First
The leak also teased that Seele, a popular character from Belobog, would receive a new skin sometime during the summer. Honkai: Star Rail introduced a skin system in Version 3.0, so there is a chance that more fan-favorite characters will get alternate outfits in future patches. Seele hasn't been featured in a limited banner since Version 1.4, so a potential skin for her could hint at her long-awaited rerun in the current patch cycle. Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 is expected to launch in late February, with the update's special livestream scheduled for February 14.
Newer characters overpowering older ones is a common phenomenon in live service games, as stronger enemies and challenges are constantly added as well. Moreover, Honkai: Star Rail recently introduced the Remembrance path, and with more characters of this type on the way, the game's meta will likely be affected. Honkai: Star Rail's Aglaea, for example, has proven to be a strong DPS carry unit.
