Honkai: Star Rail introduced four new characters in anticipation of its upcoming Penacony arc. The new world will debut in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0, which is expected to come out in February, and will feature new playable characters, like Black Swan, Sparkle, and Misha.
Known as the Planet of Festivities, Penacony is a European-inspired world inhabited by an influential group called The Family. In Honkai: Star Rail's main story, the Astral Express Crew received invitations from Penacony to join The Family's banquet, but they took a detour to deal with the Stellaron crisis at the Xianzhou Luofu. The Family also invited Topaz and Aventurine from the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC), Sparkle from the Masked Fools, Galaxy Ranger Acheron, and more.
Honkai: Star Rail recently uploaded a new Myriad Celestia trailer titled "A Night of Ever-Flame: Scene 33," featuring Duke Inferno and four new characters. The trailer introduced members of the Annihilation Gang, namely Akash, Dubra, Caterina, and Constance. This villainous group seeks to annihilate the world to attract the gaze of the Aeon of Destruction, Nanook.
Will the Annihilation Gang Be Playable in Honkai: Star Rail?
- Akash
- Caterina
- Constance
- Dubra
Usually, when Honkai: Star Rail releases such trailers, it's the game's way of teasing future playable characters. However, there's still no information on whether the Annihilation Gang will be playable. Either way, many Honkai: Star Rail fans expressed their excitement over the four new characters and the roles they'll play in the upcoming Penacony arc. Some were also surprised by the new characters as they didn't seem to appear in previous Honkai: Star Rail character leaks.
It's possible that the characters might be NPCs in the next few updates, so Honkai: Star Rail would have the opportunity to flesh out their stories. If all Annihilation Gang members were to become playable, it's likely that Honkai: Star Rail will release their banners slowly in the next few months. It will be interesting to see how each member will play, especially since they all seem to have unique weapons and abilities. The Annihilation Gang's individual designs also stand out from many of the existing characters' designs.
There's a lot to be excited about for Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0, including new characters, events, and an entire world waiting to be explored. For now, players are grinding the remaining events in Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.6, and farming Stellar Jades to pull future five-star banner characters Black Swan and Sparkle. If the teasers so far are any indication, then Penacony will be an eventful time for avid players.
