The Genshin Impact developer first revealed its next major game release earlier this year, revealing Honkai: Nexus Anima as a spinoff of the Honkai universe pairing characters up with Pokemon-like creatures. The game is set to serve as a crossover of multiple different Honkai universe games, with both Honkai Impact 3rd's Kiana and Honkai: Star Rail's Blade confirmed to appear. Since the Honkai series is getting yet another new installment with Honkai: Nexus Anima, it's about time that Genshin Impact gets the same treatment.
A new post to Honkai: Nexus Anima's official social media accounts is providing more information about the world of the new HoYoverse game. The post explains the "Nexus" as the "connection between all things," serving to connect different Planes together, while also teasing the mysterious "Sundering" event. The post reveals that the Nexus Anima creatures are the shattered fragments of the Nexus after the Sundering, while "Nexus Battles" between characters are used to solve disputes in Honkai: Nexus Anima's universe. HoYoverse has not confirmed an official release window for Honkai: Nexus Anima.
Honkai: Nexus Anima Reveals New In-Game Lore
- Nexus: "Nexus" refers to the fundamental connections between all things. In this universe, there was once a time when nothing existed in true isolation, independent of outside influence. It was the Nexus that connected everything together, and these links were called Nexus threads. After the Sundering, the Nexus was broken, and stable connections between things were lost.
- Nexus Anima: The shattered Nexus was scattered across the world, the frayed pieces manifesting as creatures of Aspect energy: Nexus Anima.
- Nexus Battles: Animasters pit Anima against one another in battle; after the Sundering, Nexus Battles have become the recognized method of resolving disputes across most Planes.
The new information about Honkai: Nexus Anima's lore comes as HoYoverse has already revealed several characters coming with the game's launch. Aside from the previously-mentioned Kiana and Blade, Honkai: Nexus Anima has teased multiple "Sovereign" and "Novarch" characters, including Victus, Armand, and Apeiron among others. Nanafey has served as one of Honkai: Nexus Anima's main mascot characters, while 4th Sovereign Kumyo Kyo has been noted as looking eerily similar to Genshin Impact's Aether.
Honkai: Nexus Anima has already seen plenty of excitement from fans of HoYoverse, as the developer prepares for major updates across several of its games. September looks to be a busy month for HoYoverse, with new updates hitting Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero in September. Genshin Impact's Version 6.0, in particular, will be the game's largest patch of the year, adding the newest playable region with Nod-Krai's debut. Honkai: Nexus Anima looks primed to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors and see similarly smashing success to HoYoverse's previous games.
