As players level up in HoloCure, they will have the chance to acquire some brand new weapons to help mow down the relentless hordes of enemies that they will be facing on each level. While each character will have their own starter weapon which is unique to them, many of which are very powerful, not all of these weapons are entirely reliable for the long term, especially without upgrades.
HoloCure: What Are Silver and Golden YAGOOs
These enemies in HoloCure may not pose a threat, but defeating them will grant worthwhile rewards.
It can therefore be worth keeping an eye out for some of the stronger weapons which tend to be a lot more weird and whack in their design which perfectly suits the comical and vibrant aesthetic of HoloCure. Alongside starter weapons and those that can be obtained from leveling up, there are also Collab Weapons which can be made by combining two max level weapons together. These can sometimes fall flat, but on other occasions, they can be near-unstoppable thanks to their damage and range. Nonetheless, these weapons listed below are among some of the very best which will be able to take down regular mobs and bosses alike with ease.
7 Sausage
- How to unlock: Defeat the Area 15 bosses found in Stage 4.
Surely, compared to all the other mystical and otherworldly weapons featured in the game, a sausage can't be one of the best, can it? The truth is, the sausage has one special ability that can literally make it a lifesaver, and that's the fact that it will always swing toward the closest target when the player presses the attack command. Anyone who has played HoloCure will know very well how every stage can get very chaotic as hundreds of regular mobs rush the player, making it very difficult to target out single enemies since they're all so fast and aggressive.
By wielding the sausage, players will literally be able to wipe out anyone who gets too close, ensuring that there's always a little bit of space between them and the hordes. It's also well worth dipping into the upgrades to decrease the time between attacks to ensure that no enemy is too tough to kill. At max level, the sausage is even capable of throwing out a 2-hit combo which is sure to keep any enemy at arm's length.
6 Fan Beam
- How to unlock: Defeat the Fubuzilla boss in Stage 1.
Fubuzilla will be encountered during the very first stage of the game, so this is a fairly easy weapon to acquire after just a few hours of playtime, something that's quite surprising considering just how downright powerful it is. This ranged weapon will fire a relatively wide laser beam in any horizontal direction on the stage, but what the game doesn't tell the player is that the attack will actually knock back enemies in the process.
HoloCure: What Does Eliminate Do?
This HoloCure mechanic could vastly improve a run if players are aware of how to use it.
This not only makes it very easy to clear out space when things start getting a little too frantic, but it also leaves enemies wide open for ability or Special Attack to finish them off. At max level, the Fan Beam will also fire an additional beam from behind the character, ensuring they're covered on all sides.
5 EN's Curse
- How to unlock: Defeat the Spiderchama boss found in Stage 3.
Aside from the dark and mysterious design of the weapon, there really doesn't seem to be much interesting about EN's Curse at first glance, and it seems similar to any of the other ranged weapons found in the game. The major difference though is the ability of the weapon to spread its curse to enemies in close proximity which essentially creates a chain reaction.
This might not happen every time, but the fact that the weapon already does a good amount of damage, and is capable of wiping out entire groups with just a handful of shots, makes it incredibly powerful in certain scenarios. There are also plenty of upgrades that can increase the chance of curses spreading, alongside the damage that chain attacks will deal, so it's well worth sticking with the weapon and leveling it up to bring out its true potential.
4 Scythe Swing
- How to unlock: Calliope Mori's Starting Weapon.
There's a large portion of characters in HoloCure who have starting weapons that are dedicated to being either close or long-ranged, but there really aren't many that excel at batting enemies away from the mid-range. Luckily, anyone who doesn't want to take the risk of getting surrounded but still wants to deal some sustainable damage should try out Calliope Mori and her lethal Scythe Swing weapon.
The scythe will attack in a half-circle formation in front of Mori, covering a wide distance and destroying anyone caught in the swing. Nearly every upgrade for the scythe is dedicated to enhancing its strength, making it one of the most devastating weapons in the game when reaching max level, especially when also pairing it with Mori's The Reaper ability which increases regular and critical damage too.
3 Spider Cooking
- How to unlock: Available from the start.
One of the best default weapons in the entire game, and one that is great on its own but can also be infused as a collab, Spider Cooking is all about poisoning enemies who get too close and protecting the player in the process. The way it works is by creating an area of miasma around the character which is actually quite big and will slowly damage enemies over time with poison, so while it won't kill them right away, it will still make them weak enough to finish off with a quick ability.
10 Best Shmups For Newcomers To The Genre
Shoot 'em ups, or "shmups," can be a hard genre to get into due to their difficulty. These titles are perfect for new players trying their hand.
The area of the miasma can be upgraded to be up to 25% bigger which is capable of damaging multiple enemies at once, but there's even a knockback effect that can be added at max level. This makes it incredibly hard for enemies to get close and makes the weapon feel more like a protective barrier than anything else.
2 Eldritch Horror
- How to unlock: Made by combining EN's Curse and Spider Cooking.
Definitely one of the most oddball weapons in the entire game, the Eldritch Horror isn't exactly the most reliable weapon, but when it decides to work, it can dish out a staggering amount of damage. The Eldritch Horror will periodically drop a giant vortex that continuously damages enemies until there's nothing left of them. Additionally, there's also a chance that the player can gain a little bit of health upon damaging an enemy which can be equal to up to 5% of their max HP.
The weapons were actually fairly weak upon its introduction to the game, but after a few patches, it's been modified to where it's now much more viable and extremely fun to use. The AOE of the vortex itself also means that it can easily take down multiple enemies at once, making it great for any stage it's used on.
1 Frozen Sea
- How to unlock: Made by combining BL Book and Wamy Water.
When equipped, the Frozen Sea will surround the player with hovering books that are not only capable of inflicting damage on enemies by firing out tiny ice shards, but they even have a slowing effect which can help make a stage much more manageable. This is best paired with characters who can either buff their own damage, or better yet, their attack speed to quickly finish off anyone who might be getting close, such as Amelia Watson for example.
It can also be great for anyone trying to get to the end-game who wants a reliable weapon that's going to ensure they always stay on their feet. For example, using it with someone like the incredibly tanky Gawr Gura can make the player more or less un-killable so long as they stay on the move and buff their stats at the correct time. This versatility makes Frozen Sea an excellent weapon that can be quite tricky to get, but very much worth it in the end.
