The Wailing Mother quest is one of these quests, as Hornet tries to rid the prison of an eerie enemy that lurks in its shadows. The Wailing Mother Quest Guide In Silksong

The Wailing Mother is a quest where Hornet needs to find the Broodmother and defeat her. It’s a Grand Hunt quest for the Songclave safe area in Choral Chambers. You can claim the quest after finishing the first bunch of wishes on that Wishwall, such as Balm for the Wounded quest in Silksong. You also need to progress far enough in the Act 2 main story quest.

After getting the Wailing Mother quest in Silksong, Hornet needs to track and slay the Wailing Creature in the Slab. You find out later that the Wailing Creature is called Broodmother, and is located northwest of the Slab, almost on the highest floor. To track her, find her Slime trails, scattered all over the Slab area.

You can reach the Slab area by going into the First Shrine’s Ventrica and teleporting into the Choral Chambers. After that, climb a few floors up to find the gate that leads you outside the Choral Chambers into the Slab. You can also use the First Shrine’s Ventrica to teleport to the Grand Bellway’s Ventrica. From there, use the Bellway to teleport to the Slab and climb from the bottom to the top.

If you've never been kidnapped to The Slab, the Key of Apostate is required to enter the area.

Once you reach the Wailing Mother quest chamber, you’ll see a crack in the wall behind Hornet. Interact with it to enter the hole and progress through its linear path to find a couple of fly enemies, such as Guardfly and Wardfly. After that, the Broodmother will make an appearance. Defeat her in combat to get the Broodmother’s eye item. She summons a lot of flies during the combat, so make sure to take them out, or it’ll get overwhelming really quickly. Try to avoid her attacks and always wait for the right moment to strike her.

After slaying the Broodmother and getting her Broodmother’s eye, go back to the Songclave’s Wishwall to deliver the item. Turning in the Broodmother’s eye will finish the Wailing Mother quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
