Some Hollow Knight: Silksong players are annoyed that Rosary Beads are destroyed when they fall into spikes. This is one of the many pet peeves that gamers have about the recently released Hollow Knight: Silksong, which has proved to be largely popular, but includes some details that have irked part of the fanbase.
Released on September 4 after around seven years in development, Hollow Knight: Silksong has quickly become a major hit. While Team Cherry has not yet publicly shared sales data for the popular Metroidvania, over half a million simultaneous gamers played Silksong on Steam during its first weekend. The title’s release was so popular that it even affected some other platforms, such as the Xbox Store and the Nintendo eShop at release, slowing them down and making them prone to errors.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Players Are Unhappy With Losing Rosary Beads to Spikes
Since then, the fanbase has been in love with Hollow Knight: Silksong. However, there has been some repeated criticism aimed at the title, and the latest one is that Rosary Beads are destroyed when they touch spikes. A post made by Shakaow15 on the Hollow Knight subreddit pointed out the issue, quickly garnering over 3,700 upvotes. According to the fan, the main problem is that even when equipped with the item to attract Rosary Beads, they are still destroyed if they touch spikes. As other commenters pointed out, sometimes the tool that auto-collects the beads makes their trajectory hit the spikes, and they are gone forever, which makes the problem even worse.
While this has been a fairly annoying issue, it’s far from the biggest pet peeve gamers have with Silksong. Soon after the launch, for example, gamers complained that Hollow Knight: Silksong was too hard. The two major problems discussed by the fanbase were how Hornet’s hitboxes feel “too big” and how often double damage occurs.
To add to the game’s difficulty, boss runbacks are a fairly common issue in Silksong, which has also been a major point of contention. Some gamers have defended the game's difficulty, though, saying that Hornet feels much faster and responsive than the Knight, and the challenge evens out in the end.
Fortunately, modders are already solving these problems for gamers who play on PC. Some of the most popular Hollow Knight: Silksong mods remove annoyances such as bosses dealing double damage. Other mods have also been reported to add more benches so that gamers won’t have to worry so much about runbacks. It’s good that some players will have the option to make the game more accessible to them via mods, as Team Cherry did not add difficulty options to Hollow Knight: Silksong.
