Hollow Knight: Silksong fans can finally sleep knowing when the next Metroidvania adventure from Team Cherry will arrive. It'll be hard to rest, though, as this long-awaited release date is only 10 days away. Fans will be able to play as the iconic boss Hornet through her own adventure in Hollow Knight: Silksong's kingdom of Pharloom. Because the game started out as DLC and grew into such a large standalone title that it took seven years to finish, there are tons of enemies, bosses, and secrets to uncover. So many things will stand in Hornet's way as she ascends through the kingdom, which means visiting multiple places along the way.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Has Revealed 12 Locations So Far

  • Moss Grotto
  • Deep Docks
  • Greymoor
  • The Citadel
  • The Marrow

These five locations were the only confirmed named areas before the release date announcement on Gamescom Opening Night Live. Some, like Moss Grotto and Greymoor, may remind players of other Hollow Knight stages. The similarity is likely on purpose, as Moss Grotto serves a similar purpose to Greenpath in the first game. Supposedly, Greymoor is the largest area in a Hollow Knight game so far, according to a blog post from 2019. This may have changed since it was written, but fans will need to wait until the full game is out to know if the statement still holds up.

There are other areas that have been named by Team Cherry, but not given screenshots or descriptions. These are as follows:

  • Bonebottom
  • Moss Temple
  • Soaring Warlord's Tower
  • Coral Forest
  • Gilded City
  • Lake of Fire
  • Bone Forest

Knowing that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be out soon is definitely worth writing home about, but there's a small detail that was practically begging for fans to pause and analyze what it had to show. In one of the clips, Hornet sits on a bench and opens up a map that is full of explored areas and even important item locations. Some of the locations shown off in the newest Hollow Knight: Silksong trailer are brand-new, and players can find a list of them below.

  • Far Fields
  • Hunter's March
  • Bellhart
  • Shellwood

This means that players know roughly 16 areas ahead of launch. From the size of the map and the premise of ascension in Hollow Knight: Silksong, there's bound to be far more left to uncover. After all, Silksong has reportedly been in 'development heaven' where Team Cherry had so many ideas they had to cap it somewhere, or the game would take even longer to complete.

How Many More Locations is Hollow Knight: Silksong Keeping Close to Its Chest?

Hollow Knight Silksong Confirmed Features Systems New Mechanics Bosses

The number of areas players already know about makes one important detail clear - Silksong isn't close to being done yet. The original Hollow Knight had around 18 locations, and the biggest fact about Silksong's lengthy development is that it's stuffed with as much content as Team Cherry could fit. There is likely more to discover during Hornet's adventure, but how many exactly will remain to be seen until enough players have made their way through.

There are a lot of details about Hollow Knight: Silksong that fans won't fully understand for some time. Kickstarter backers have the right to play the game first, with Silksong reviews not going live before launch, so key details such as length, map size, and more will likely come out of community effort rather than pre-made guides or walkthroughs. To some, the urge to know just what they're getting into may drive them a bit mad, but many gamers will likely enjoy the old-school individual discoveries each player will make as they play. With this in mind, and the wait that gets less and less with each passing day, it's hard to say if there's ever been a better time to be a Hollow Knight fan.
