Hogwarts Legacy user reviews are even more positive than its critic reviews, which is a rare sight in the video game industry. Hogwarts Legacy has enjoyed a great deal of success since before it even had its official launch, breaking Twitch viewership records and earning mostly positive reviews from professional critics.

When it comes to new video game releases, there's a trend where the critic reviews are more positive than the user reviews. Oftentimes this is because of review bombing efforts, where people who don't like a game for whatever reason decide to flood its user review section with 0/10 scores. Hogwarts Legacy kicks that trend by having more positive user reviews than professional reviews, as can be plainly seen on the game's various Metacritic pages.

The Hogwarts Legacy aggregate review scores could very well fluctuate, but at the time of this writing, the PS5 version has an 85 critic score versus a 91 user score, the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy has an 84 critic score versus an 85 user score, and the Xbox Series X version has a 90 critic score with a 91 user score. While there are certainly many people who enjoy Hogwarts Legacy, though, it's worth pointing out that this could still very well be a case of review bombing efforts.

Review bombing doesn't need to be negative. Users can also flood a game's Metacritic page with overwhelmingly positive reviews with ulterior motives. It's safe to assume that many of the positive user reviews for the game are genuine opinions, but it's still possible that the game's user review scores are being inflated by those who are opposed to the Hogwarts Legacy boycotting efforts. Unfortunately, it's also possible that there are some people doing this simply because they support J.K. Rowling's transphobic viewpoints and haven't even played the game.

While the Hogwarts Legacy user reviews have been overwhelmingly positive so far, there are still many who have scored the game 0/10 for the opposite reason. They oppose J.K. Rowling and don't want to see the game succeed, and so this is one way they are protesting it. Some of these negative user reviews have even included Hogwarts Legacy story spoilers, so anyone playing the game may want to be careful before they give them a look.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how fans react to the other versions of Hogwarts Legacy that are on the way. The PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of Hogwarts Legacy have had their release dates pushed back to later in the year, and since it's likely they will be inferior to the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X versions of the game, it's possible that will be reflected in their review scores. Then again, it's also possible that they too will enjoy overwhelmingly positive user reviews, whether that's due to people legitimately enjoying the game or those who are trying to inflate its scores for other reasons.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming April 4 and a Switch release dropping on July 25.
