A Hogwarts Legacy player online has pointed out a moment with the Graphorn mount that could potentially hint toward a How To Train Your Dragon reference. The beasts in Hogwarts Legacy are one of the more interesting parts of the game, but it seems there are still some secrets left to uncover.
Since Hogwarts Legacy was first released earlier this year, players have continued to find brand-new secrets within the game and have not been shy about sharing them. They've even found plenty of other references, although many of them seem to be directly linked to Harry Potter. One player even noticed that one Hogwarts Legacy outfit seems to be a sneaky Ron Weasley reference to one of the funniest moments from the movies. However, it seems that Avalanche Software wanted to pay tribute outside of the Harry Potter series, too.
Redditor MuhammadrizoDev pointed out the huge similarities, comparing the music when players unlock the Graphorn mount in Hogwarts Legacy to the song "Test Drive" from the How To Train Your Dragon original soundtrack. Famously, "Test Drive" plays when Hiccup and Toothless take flight together for the first time, becoming an iconic moment in the movie. The user even provides a link to listen to "Test Drive," and the similarities are undeniable. Considering how loved this moment is among fans of the film, it's no surprise that players have picked up on it being referenced in Hogwarts Legacy.
Before unlocking the Graphorn, players must defeat it in combat, kneeling before it, and taming it. If the similarities to How To Train Your Dragon are intentional, it's a great thematic reference to the idea of humans earning the trust of an animal before starting up a friendship. One player even claimed the music was so awesome that they spent the entire fight distracted, unable to focus once they realized what Hogwarts Legacy was referencing.
While Hogwarts Legacy has plenty of different Beasts for players to catch, it doesn't quite have so many mounts to be able to traverse the school grounds on. Gamers will be hoping that any potential DLC for Hogwarts Legacy will offer new mounts to use in-game, and if not, then it's potentially something that a sequel should explore. Fans are already speculating about what Beasts they'd love to see in a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, and mounts are the next natural step beyond that. Only time will tell what Avalanche Software and Portkey Games have in store for players over the coming years.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Switch version releasing November 14.
