Open world Harry Potter game and one of 2023's highest-rated new releases, Hogwarts Legacy, now has no chance of winning an award at The Game Awards 2023. Hogwarts Legacy released in early 2023 to widespread acclaim, but despite this, it wasn't nominated for a single award at The Game Awards 2023.
Many Hogwarts Legacy fans were shocked when the game wasn't nominated for a single category at The Game Awards 2023. But even though the game wasn't going to get recognition in any of the jury-voted categories at the big show, there was still a chance that it would be nominated for the Players' Voice award. Unlike the other categories at The Game Awards, Players' Voice is entirely voted on by fans.
Hogwarts Legacy Nintendo Switch Version is Already a Big Hit
Hogwarts Legacy proves doubters wrong and sells impressively well on the Switch, despite being released on other platforms over nine months ago.
It seems not enough fans cared to see Hogwarts Legacy make it to the final list of Players' Voice nominations. The Game Awards 2023 has recently confirmed that the final lineup for the Players' Voice category consists of Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Genshin Impact, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some fans may be raising their eyebrows at a couple of the games listed, like Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty since it's an expansion and Genshin Impact since it launched three years ago, but fans ultimately get the final say on what is included in the category.
The Game Awards 2023 Players' Voice Nominees
- Baldur's Gate 3
- Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
- Genshin Impact
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
It will be interesting to see which game takes home the Players' Voice prize at The Game Awards 2023. Baldur's Gate 3 earned a ton of goodwill with gamers and seems like it could very easily win, but there's also a high chance that Genshin Impact will win yet again. Genshin Impact players are often rewarded with free Primogems whenever the game wins something, and so they have extra motivation to ensure that it beats the other nominated games.
As far as Hogwarts Legacy goes, it seems that the game is ultimately destined not to feature at The Game Awards 2023 at all. Hogwarts Legacy's divisiveness always made it questionable that the game would be featured at the event, though it was given another chance through the Players' Voice voting. The fact that Hogwarts Legacy failed to make it to the final round suggests that the game may not have stood a chance against the other big Game Awards 2023 nominees anyway, though the lack of a nomination for certain categories, like Best Art Direction, Best Score & Music, Best Audio Design, and Best Role Playing Game, is still likely to cause some fans to scratch their heads.
