Hogwarts Legacy's release has left players eager to experience every aspect of life at Hogwarts that they are able. Many Harry Potter franchise fans are already trying to find ways in which they can expand upon their gameplay experience and role-play as their favorite characters from the movies and books.

Draco Malfoy is one of the few notable characters from the Harry Potter movies who isn’t a good wizard. Malfoy makes a variety of bad choices leading him down a darker path, and while Hogwarts Legacy players may want an experience being on the side of good in their Hogwarts Legacy adventure, some may wish to follow a darker path as Malfoy did.

6 The Look

Malfoy has a difficult look to replicate in the Hogwarts Legacy character creation screen, but it isn’t impossible. Players will want to start with a preset like #20. The hair color should be #15 for the iconic Malfoy family light yellow style. His hairstyle changes throughout the movies but #14 is definitely a good attempt at a consistent style for him.

Face shape #7 and skin color #1 without glasses are easy attributes to spot for Draco Malfoy’s style and look. No freckles or moles, a complexion leaning further to the right of the slider, and eye color around #13. His eyebrows are slightly darker, perhaps a #1, and the shape is difficult to get perfect but could be #13 again. The voice choice should be option 1 while the pitch should probably be the fifth option. It is difficult to bring Draco’s movie look to Hogwarts Legacy, but that’s about as well as can be achieved with the options available.

5 Wand

Another major component of bringing Malfoy’s aesthetic to a Hogwarts Legacy character is giving the right look to his wand. Malfoy’s wand was seen on a number of occasions throughout the movies and has a slim look to it. Made of hawthorn wood and described as 10 inches long, the wand is described as reasonably springy.

It is usually hard to judge in Hogwarts Legacy how springy or rigid most wands should be if they are to be accurate for role-playing purposes. But this wand should be on the less rigid end of options. The core of Malfoy’s wand is unicorn hair.

4 Slytherin

More evil witches and wizards have come from Slytherin than from any other house. While the most sinister of the Hogwarts houses may not have had the same level of reputation for producing evil at the time Hogwarts Legacy is set, it is still known for ambition. This is the option that players should take when the sorting hat asks what drives them if they want to achieve a placement in Slytherin house.

Draco Malfoy and his entire family are known, proud Slytherin members. Hogwarts Legacy players looking to take up the Malfoy mantle should definitely take a place in this house, as some gameplay differs depending on which house the player character is in during their stay at Hogwarts.

3 Malfoy’s Favorite Spells

Crucio

Early in the Harry Potter movies, Draco Malfoy is seen using darker kinds of spells in his time at Hogwarts. For spell usage, Malfoy would consistently be looking to deal heavy damage and would care little about how much he damaged his opponents in the process. Sadistic options that leave his opponents helpless and then heavy damage would be the best policies for role-playing as Draco.

This means players will want to get quickly to slightly later-game spells like Confringo and Bombarda for heavy damage to enemies. He would also like using Petrificus Totalus and Glacius, as these spells freeze enemies and make them vulnerable to further damaging attacks. Descendo and Depulso are force spells that Malfoy would also enjoy taunting enemies by using consistently as if he was already a death eater.

2 Game Choices

There are a number of choices to be made throughout the game in regard to morality among the various situations players will find themselves taking on in and around Hogwarts. Lying to various people, swindling further rewards from them at the end of missions, and generally going down the path of a darker, more sinister character. These are the ways to get into Malfoy role-playing in Hogwarts Legacy.

Other smaller choices that players can make involve choosing traits to get quicker, and there is an entire section in the traits area for dark wizards. These spells involve making curses more powerful and giving curse effects to the recipients of other spells, making these the most essential choices for Malfoy role-play. He is also not fond of most magical creatures he comes across, so players will want to avoid using most mounts in Hogwarts Legacy.

1 Unforgivable Curses

One of the most important options in Hogwarts Legacy, which can significantly affect the overall morality of the player character, is choosing whether to accept Sebastian Sallow’s offer to teach the player the unforgivable curses. These three spells are considered only to normally be used by dark wizards. While some others have used them in the past, it is considered some of the darkest magic known to the Wizarding World.

Hogwarts Legacy players can probably guess that Malfoy would be entirely willing to learn all of these curses, and would indeed make them a large part of his arsenal in battle. Finding uses for Crucio especially is likely as Malfoy, players should feel free to take the unforgivable curses and run with them. Using potions and traits to make the cooldowns for spells longer is advised because these spells have the highest cooldowns of any in the game.

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is set to launch on April 4, 2023, on the PS4 and Xbox One, while the Switch version is due to debut on July 25, 2023.
