Summary

  • Hogwarts Legacy 2 could benefit from adding new locations like the Ministry of Magic for diverse quests.
  • The Ministry of Magic's absence in Hogwarts Legacy leaves room for its inclusion in the sequel's immersive world.
  • Including locations like the Auror Office and Department of Mysteries would offer unique quest opportunities.

There is absolutely no denying the impact that Hogwarts Legacy has had on the gaming industry and Harry Potter fans alike. With its unprecedented approach to the wizarding world in a game, Hogwarts Legacy established itself as the quintessential Harry Potter gaming experience, leaving the industry holding its breath for the next entry. Even so, while the game certainly captured the magic of the Wizarding World with its attention to detail in Hogwarts Castle and the surrounding areas, Hogwarts Legacy 2 could still benefit from adding some locations that the first game never explored.

One such location would actually make the perfect quest hub for players in Hogwarts Legacy 2, although Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade both served the first game in that capacity very well. Unlike both Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade, however, this particular location would offer players much more diversity when it comes to quests, potentially even letting them explore the world beyond the borders of Hogwarts, in an environment filled with political intrigue, looming danger, and plenty of mysteries waiting around every corner. The location in question is none other than the Ministry of Magic.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Big Feature
One Feature Feels Too Big to Pass Up on in Hogwarts Legacy 2, and It's Not Quidditch

Despite its importance, one spell is shockingly missing from Hogwarts Legacy, and ought to make a comeback in Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Could Make the Ministry of Magic the Ultimate Quest Hub

The Ministry of Magic Is One of Harry Potter's Most Iconic Locations

The Ministry of Magic is one of the most iconic locations in the Harry Potter universe, and yet it was absent from Hogwarts Legacy. The expected sequel could change that by not only allowing players to experience the awe-inspiring sight of it but also the deeper inner-workings of its dealings. Since Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s, the Ministry would have already been in operation for nearly two centuries by the time Hogwarts Legacy 2's story begins — assuming, of course, that it will take place immediately or shortly after the events of the first game.

The Ministry of Magic was officially formed in 1707, during the tenure of the first Minister for Magic, Ulick Gamp. It replaced the earlier Wizards' Council, which had been the primary governing body for British wizards before the Ministry's establishment.

If that ends up being the case, then by the time of Hogwarts Legacy 2, the Ministry would be well-established, overseeing magical law, international relations, magical creature regulation, and the enforcement of secrecy from Muggles. In light of that, it would make sense for Hogwarts Legacy 2 to see players traveling to the Ministry at some point, whether it was included as a side activity or as part of the main story.

Places Like the Auror Office, Department of Mysteries, and Magical Law Enforcement Could Offer Unique Quests

It would be a shame for Hogwarts Legacy 2 to make the Ministry of Magic a view-only or temporary experience, considering what all the location's presence in the game would imply. Instead, simply on account of what the Ministry of Magic is, expanding Hogwarts Legacy 2's world to include it would be the perfect way to offer players exciting opportunities for espionage, politics, and high-stakes encounters. Departments like the Auror Office, Department of Mysteries, and Magical Law Enforcement would already be in place at the time of Hogwarts Legacy 2, making it a great hub for quests involving magical crimes, classified magical research, or the political landscape of the Wizarding World.

Since Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s, the Ministry would have already been in operation for nearly two centuries by the time Hogwarts Legacy 2's story begins — assuming, of course, that it will take place immediately or shortly after the events of the first game.

By introducing the Ministry of Magic as a quest hub, Hogwarts Legacy 2 has a chance to build upon its predecessor's immersive world with one of the most memorable locations in the Harry Potter universe. If the first game proved anything, it's that fans are likely eager to explore the world beyond the confines of Hogwarts and its immediate surroundings, and the Ministry of Magic would arguably provide the best opportunity for them to do just that. Time will tell, however, whether Hogwarts Legacy 2 actually spreads its wings and transports players into the wider Wizarding World, but it may have to be willing to take some bold risks.
