In Circuit Arcadia, the main hub area of High on Life 2, players will encounter a curious purple-skinned alien standing next to a red button. When they approach, the alien will present them with a simple choice: press the red button, and he will give you money, but someone random in the universe will give their life in exchange, or do not press the button and walk away with nothing.
Is the alien bluffing? Will he actually give you money for pressing the button? And will someone you know die as a result of your decision to press the button? This guide covers all possible consequences of pressing the red button and whether or not you should.

Where to Find the Red Button in High on Life 2?
Red Button Location
The red button NPC can be found in Circuit Arcadia City Plaza, directly in front of Circuit Arcadia Mall, next to a cream-colored car and near the palm trees. He will be standing behind a dark brown standing table with a single red button in front of him.
When you approach, he will shout out to attract your attention, promising you an interesting moral quandary to consider. Whether or not you engage him is up to you. In total, the red button NPC will present his choices to you three separate times for increasing amounts of cash.
What Happens if You Press the Red Button for 500 Pesos in High on Life 2?
When you talk to the alien standing next to the red button for the first time, he will offer you the following choice:
- Press the red button: Someone random in the world will die, but you will get 500 Pesos.
- Do not press the red button: No one will die, but you will not receive any money.
Should You Press the Red Button for 500 Pesos in High on Life 2?
Yes, you should. If you press the red button for 500 Pesos, you will get the promised cash from the alien, and he will state that someone random in the world has died. Immediately afterwards, you’ll receive a call from your sister Lizzie saying that Gene, your former handler and friend, may be dying. However, this will turn out to be a false alarm, and Gene will be fine.

What Happens if You Press the Red Button for One Million Pesos in High on Life 2?
To get the second encounter, fast travel away from Circuit Arcadia to reset the zone. When you return, you’ll find the red button NPC in the exact same spot.
When you talk to the red button alien the second time, he will offer you the following choice:
- Press the red button: Someone random in the world will die, but you will get 1,000,000 Pesos.
- Do not press the red button: No one will die, but you will not receive any money.
Should You Press the Red Button for 1,000,000 Pesos in High on Life 2?
It does not matter. If you press the red button, you will receive one million Pesos immediately but it will soon be taken away from you. Unlike last time, the random person who dies isn’t so random. Immediately after the button is pressed, the Gatlian you currently have equipped will start exhibiting signs of death, indicating that it is their life that you’ll have to give in exchange for the money.
Upon seeing this, the red button NPC will offer you a second choice:
- Press the second red button in front of you to reverse the previous decision.
- Do not press the second red button and keep the one million pesos.
Although this is presented like a choice, it is actually mandatory that you pick the first option. The game will force you to save your gun’s life and give the money back by preventing you from moving away from the red button, essentially reversing the first decision. There is no way to keep the 1,000,000 Pesos.

What Happens if You Press the Red Button for Ten Million Pesos in High on Life 2?
To get the third encounter, fast travel away from Circuit Arcadia to reset the zone (just like the previous instance). When you return, you’ll find the red button NPC in the exact same spot.
When you talk to the red button alien the third time, he will offer you the following choice:
- Press the red button: Someone random in the world will die, but you will get 10,000,000 Pesos.
- Do not press the red button: No one will die, but you will not receive any money.
Should You Press the Red Button for 10,000,000 Pesos in High on Life 2?
It does not matter. Regardless of whether or not you press the red button, you will not receive the 10,000,000 Pesos. This is because as soon as the button is pressed, the alien behind the table will keel over and die, meaning the person who was supposed to give you the money is the random person who got the short end of the proverbial stick.
Interestingly, if you walk behind the table and actually look at the face of the “dead” alien, you’ll see that his eyes are actually blinking, indicating that he is most likely alive. You can use your Gatlians to shoot this NPC, but no matter how many bullets you lodge into his skull, he’ll continue playing dead in order to avoid having to give you ten million pesos. There is no way to get the money.
The next time you come back to this location, the alien and his red button will be gone. Additionally, there is no achievement or trophy attached to this encounter, so regardless of what you choose, there are no lasting consequences. The most you can get out of this interaction is 500 Pesos for pressing the red button the first time.
