The legendary game director Hideo Kojima, the face behind projects like Metal Gear and Death Stranding, has seemingly fallen in love with one particular 2025 gothic horror movie, in what he called "superb" and "utterly spellbinding", leaving him feeling satisfied with the story and direction of the film. For those who follow Kojima closely on social media, fans will be more than accustomed to his love of sharing what he watches, whether on the big screen or the small screen.

Last year, the game designer revealed that he had been very busy watching Past Lives, The Teachers' Lounge, Dune: Part Two, All of Us Strangers, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, La Chimera, Hit Man, Gondola, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, The Substance, The Holdovers, and Juror #2, which had all made its way into his favorite movie list of 2024. Founding Kojima Productions in 2005, Kojima eventually left the company in 2015 but later came back under the same name as an independent studio to produce Death Stranding with Norman Reedus in 2019. However, before Kojima's latest gaming sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach releases in only a matter of weeks on June 26, the beloved director has yet again sung the praises of another movie, but this time it involves a terrifying vampire remake with Robert Eggers at the helm.

Hideo Kojima Has Fallen in Love With Nosferatu, Calling the Movie “Utterly Spellbinding”

Robert Eggers' Nosferatu remake, which was released last year to very positive reviews, has seemingly received another big fan in the form of game designer Hideo Kojima. Taking to his Twitter/X account, Kojima revealed that he had recently watched the remake of F. W. Murnau's 1922 classic, stating that he thought it was "Utterly Spellbinding". Kojima went on to say that he thought Nosferatu "felt like being in a dream the entire time," expressing that he was so impressed with its use of worldbuilding, production design, costumes, lighting, the use of shadows and smoke, and the homage-style direction. Probably the biggest compliment is that the award-winning director called the movie "art", revealing that classic gothic horror movies like Nosferatu should be classed as such.

Eggers, who is responsible for modern horror gems like The Witch and The Northman, faced success once more with Nosferatu as it quickly became horror lovers' most anticipated horror movies of 2024. Nosferatu took viewers on a deeper dive into its story in a bid to offer the old classic in a newer and different way, due to Egger's film being set even earlier than Bram Stoker's writings . In our Nosferatu review, we praised the film's technical wonder and the impressive ensemble cast, led by an excellent Lily-Rose Depp and an unrecognizable Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlock.

For those who haven't seen Nosferatu yet, the 2024 movie can be streamed via Amazon Prime Video.
