New Death Stranding 2 Trailer Seemingly Teased by Hideo Kojima

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach director Hideo Kojima indicates that a new trailer for the game may be inbound in the very near future.

In a new post online, Hideo Kojima revealed a short, 20 second clip of Death Stranding 2. The scene isn't exactly new, as it appears to be an extended version of a scene previously shown in Death Stranding 2's State of Play trailer from January 2024 between Norman Reddus' Sam and Lea Seydoux's Fragile talking about a mysterious benefactor. In this scene, Sam expresses his distrust of the secretive individual, while Fragile responds by saying while the duo have been betrayed in the past, she's willing to look the other way as long as this person continues to keep up their end of the bargain.

Hideo Kojima Potentially Teases New State of Play Trailer

The footage is presented as being captured off-screen, accompanied by a message saying that the teaser is part of the main sound mixing process, potentially teasing a new Death Stranding 2 trailer. Players have already linked the message with rumors of a potential new PlayStation State of Play for February 2025, which Sony has yet to officially comment on, but has been heavily teased by certain industry insiders.

Kojima games are notorious for their mysteries and Death Stranding 2 appears to be no different, especially with new characters like Elle Fanning's Tomorrow, Shioli Kutsuna's Rainy, and a seemingly sentient puppet Dollman portrayed by Fatih Akin. Some friendly faces are also making a return, as it was recently announced that Conan O'Brien is returning to Death Stranding 2, potentially also bringing back the fan favorite Sea Otter Hood.
