Henry Cavill is still interested in playing Superman, last fans heard, but his future as the Man of Steel remains in question after years of silence on the character's cinematic future. Now, Cavill may have some answers about his Superman role at San Diego Comic-Con.

Cavill made his debut as Superman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, the first entry in what would become the struggling DC Extended Universe. While Man of Steel was met with mixed reviews, even many of the film's critics were positive toward Cavill's performance as Superman, a role he would reprise in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Still, the negative response to Snyder's DCEU projects prompted Warner Bros. To revise plans for its DC feature films, and there hasn't been any official news regarding Cavill's future as Superman since. Now, Deadline reports there is buzz that Cavill could appear on Warner Bros.' Hall H Panel for DC Films at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. While the outlet notes that Cavill might make a surprise appearance to "talk up more Superman," details regarding what he may announce, if anything substantial, were not provided.

At this time, the DC films that will receive the spotlight at San Diego Comic-Con will be Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. There are currently no details on what will be announced or shown during the panel, but Zachary Levi recently posted a video telling fans who can't attend Comic-Con to "stay tuned," suggesting whatever is revealed will be released to the general public soon after. Johnson posted a similar video on his own social media page earlier this month, though once again, next to no precise details were provided on what fans can expect to see at the panel.

Recently, it was reported that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav was frustrated by DC Film's inconsistent output and lack of long-term planning. Now that Zaslav has been at the top of the Warner Bros. Discovery chain for a while, perhaps he and DC have managed to devise plans for Cavill's next outing as Superman.

While fans were divided on Snyder's approach to Superman, even some of the harshest critics agreed Cavill had the acting skills to pull off the role. If Warner Bros. And DC really do have new Superman plans to announce, maybe Cavill will finally get another chance to prove he truly is the Man of Steel.

Superman films are available to stream on HBO Max.
