Helldivers 2 recently had one of its biggest shake-ups yet when it comes to failing a Major Order. Since the Illuminate arrived on the scene, players have faced their most harrowing enemy yet, and this reached a climax with the destruction of Angel's Venture. Helldivers 2 players were unable to hold back the Meridia Singularity that had been weaponized by the Illuminate, which led to an entire planet being lost.
In the past, failing Major Orders has led to real consequences, but nothing as big as the complete destruction of a planet like Angel's Venture. Failure to keep the Meridian Singularity at bay has been a wake-up call for a lot of players, as it demonstrated that nothing is off limits moving forward. Such destruction has left many players wondering what horrible consequences could lie in store for future Major Orders, if failed. If a Major Order is particularly grueling, it may be hard for enough players to band together, but there is one untapped resource that could be the cure: an Xbox launch for Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2: The Pros and Cons of Increasing Armor Passive Slots
Helldivers 2 has many different types of armor, each with unique passives, but should the game allow for each piece to have more than 2 at a time?
Xbox Could Be the Answer to Helldivers 2's Meridian Singularity Woes
A Long-Awaited Port Could Now Be More Useful Than Ever
Ever since Helldivers 2 launched last year, many Xbox players have been hoping that the game eventually gets ported to the Microsoft console. Right now, it seems unlikely that this will occur, since the game is published by Sony, but it's not entirely impossible. Helldivers 2 had a strong first year, and coming to the Xbox in its second could inject the game with a massive wave of new players.
Members of Arrowhead Game Studios have even addressed a possible Xbox port in the future, but getting such a deal through may be easier said than done. Arrowhead community manager Twinbeard mentioned that the powers at Sony and Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer could come to an agreement, but it largely depends on the former. Twinbeard stated, "It’s not up to us but to Sony and Phil to duke out, but hypothetically speaking, if both partners think it would benefit them from a financial/brand standpoint, it could. If Sony believes it won’t, though, it won’t." While this is far from an actual confirmation of an Xbox port, it's at least reassuring to know that this partnership isn't exactly off the table.
Before its destruction, Angel's Venture was used as a Super Earth training planet.
Helldivers 2 May Need More Hands On Deck
Angel's Venture is hardly the end of the Meridia Singularity, as it's on a crash course for beloved Super Earth. As the anomaly draws closer to the home of Managed Democracy, the Major Orders are only bound to get more difficult. Players simply can't afford another loss like they experienced with Angel's Venture, so Helldivers 2 may want to consider reaching out and rallying brand-new Helldivers.
It’s not up to us but to Sony and Phil to duke out.
Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox feels like a no-brainer, but as Twinbeard mentioned, it is ultimately up to Sony to decide. While Xbox has been moving away from exclusivity, PlayStation has still maintained its tradition of first-party titles, and Helldivers 2 is one of its most successful games of the PS5 era. Right now, Helldivers 2 is incredibly valuable to the company, so it would make sense for Sony to be stingy when it comes to sharing.
Helldivers 2 won the 2024 Game Award for Best Multiplayer.
Helldivers 2 Has More in Store
Losing Angel's Venture was a wild way to kick off the year and mark the game's first anniversary. There are likely to be even more harrowing Major Orders as the year continues, so Helldivers will want to be at their very best. Only time will tell what other victories and tragedies await Helldivers 2 players in 2025, but they are bound to be game-changing.
