Spreading democracy for Super-Earth just got easier with the release of the Bastion Mk XVI, a heavily-armored tank destroyer that comes with a 120mm high-velocity cannon and a heavy coaxial machine gun. The tank in Helldivers 2 is free for all players, meaning you won't need a Warbond to pick up this new Strategem.
However, players are still going to need Requisition Slips for the tank, and they might want to know if it's even worth purchasing. Below, we'll showcase how the tank works and how you can use it to wipe out the Automatons, Tyranids, and Illuminate to ensure Super-Earth's triumph.
Helldivers 2: All Warbonds, Ranked
Here are all of the Warbonds in Helldivers 2, ranked according to practicality to help players figure out which ones to get first.
How to Get the Tank in Helldivers 2 (& Stats)
The Tank in Helldivers 2 can be acquired for 35,000 Requisition Slips by visiting the Ship Management screen. The Bastion Tank does not require any Warbond to be purchased, and it can be found under the Hangar Strategems section. Then, when entering your Loadout for a mission, you can find the tank in the Supply category, named TD-220 Bastion Mk XVI.
The Bastion Tank takes 10.50 seconds to call in and will land from a gunship after using the Strategem command: Left, Down, Right, Down, Left, Down, Up, Down, Up. Once brought into the field, the Tank will have a cooldown of 741 seconds, which is a whopping 12 minutes. The upside to this is that the Tank has unlimited uses, meaning if it blows up, you can simply call in another after the cooldown period.
How to Use the Tank in Helldivers 2
The Bastion Tank can be used by a total of 4 players in Helldivers 2. There are four seats on the tank, and each of them serves a purpose:
- The front of the tank will allow 1 player to become the driver.
- The back of the tank will allow 1 player to control the cannon and the machine gun.
- The top of the tank will allow 2 players to sit in the armored vehicle, where they can use the aim button to fire their primary weapons.
Unfortunately, the tank is not designed for solo players, and if you want to drive and shoot the tank at the same time, you will need one player in the front (driving) and one in the back (shooting). This is a co-op Strategem, and is best used for search & destroy missions where you can use the cannon to eradicate enemy camps.
The Tank should not be used as a full-frontal assault vehicle like the Exosuit, and instead should be used as a tactical vehicle, where placement on the battlefield matters. We recommend using the tank's cannon to destroy heavily-armored enemies, facilities, nests, and ships from a distance, while also using the cannon to wipe out drop ships.
There is a bug in which the tank can sometimes spawn with 1 artillery shell instead of 30. This should be fixed soon.
