Well over 450,000 concurrent players logged into Helldivers 2 during its launch month in February, and the game still holds over 53,000 concurrent Steam players four months after launch. Post-launch support for Helldivers 2 has been consistent as well, with new weapons and content being added regularly in free updates. On June 18, Arrowhead Game Studios released Helldivers 2 update 1.000.402, which introduced a slew of general quality of life improvements and crash fixes. Unfortunately, the update negatively affected the FAF-14 Spear, causing players to experience game crashes while using the weapon.

After receiving various player reports regarding the Spear, Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard confirmed that the development team is looking into game crashes affiliated with the use of the weapon. As reported by PC Gamer, Twinbeard notes that a Helldivers 2 hotfix could arrive as soon as next week to remedy the issue, after jokingly stating that the Spear is cursed for the time being. Once ready, Arrowhead Game Studios will most likely reveal patch notes for the hotfix. More information will likely be shared on the Helldivers 2 Discord server as well, since the game's developers regularly share updates with the community there. Thus far, the exact cause of the Spear crashing issue appears to be unknown.
