As the threats to galactic freedom evolve, so do the weapons of Helldivers 2. A positive change recently happened for the PLAS-1 Scorcher in Helldivers 2's second October update, as the weapon saw itself receive a modification that further improved its aggressive combat function. Its new feature sets a precedent for what the other weapons should also eventually acquire, as the change taps into what makes the game as enjoyable as it is.

Helldivers 2's PLAS-1 Scorcher is consistently known as a great weapon, thanks to its explosive energy projectiles that decimate groups of enemies that pack together. The recent update in October further improved its combat capabilities, as it was given a full auto mode, allowing players to use up all of its ammo in a rush should they wish to do so. Such a change emphasizes how Helldivers 2 is a game where firing rapidly in all directions, even with an extremely destructive weapon, can be a valid option for completing missions or creating unforgettable moments. Arrowhead Game Studios may want to consider giving the game's other equipment the full auto treatment, as it can further emphasize the fun and exciting gameplay and attract more people into playing.

Choosing the right rocket launcher in Helldivers 2 will make missions much easier. Between the Commando and Recoilless Rifle, which is better?

Why Helldivers 2’s Other Weapons Should Have the Option to Switch to Full Auto Mode

Giving one of the best primary weapons in Helldivers 2 the ability to go full auto is a great way to improve combat. If even more of the game's guns were to be given that option, then it could lead to the following:

  • More weapons could find a place in the current combat meta, as the full auto option could potentially turn anything more dangerous
  • It gives players the decision to either conserve their ammo or release everything all at once, creating more engaging and immersive combat scenarios
  • Even more awe-inspiring or hilarious moments, as the full auto mode's aggressive style can either better or worsen a player's situation

If one of the best energy weapons in Helldivers 2 can see an improvement with the mode without disrupting the game's balance, then it would be reasonable to assume that it would be possible to add it to others. Arrowhead Game Studios' creation only stands to benefit from doing it, and perhaps in time, the developer will consider its potential.

How Giving Helldivers 2’s Other Weapons the Option to Go Full Auto Can Lead to Other Opportunities

Giving every weapon the ability to go full auto can change the game's combat for the better, as it gives lesser-used options a chance to shine while making the already powerful ones even more dangerous to use. If such a change can improve do that, it could pave the way for another update that will make things more chaotic but enjoyable.

Helldivers 2 could go further than just adding a full auto option for certain weapons, as it could also consider giving some more weapons the Railgun's unsafe mode. Providing players with that much risk and power on weapons like the ARC-3 Arc Thrower or LAS-99 Quasar Cannon can make for even more destructive and fun options, giving players more choices for whatever mission they choose and preventing combat from going stale.

The PLAS-1 Scorcher could be the beginning of other weapons receiving more and more firing modes. There is a lot of potential if it happens, as not only will it mean more ways to deal with the enemies of Helldivers 2, but also more opportunities to make combat and gameplay more exciting and engaging. Hopefully, Arrowhead Game Studios sees what the change can do for the game, and eventually decides to implement it.
