Helldivers 2’s story is centered on a never-ending interstellar conflict, as the enemies of humanity constantly try to destroy Super Earth while humans aim to bring democracy throughout the galaxy. To ensure the Helldivers' victory over their enemies, players must complete time-limited community goals known as major orders to progress in the galactic war. Completing these major orders in Helldivers 2 gives players the same goal to work towards, grants them various rewards, and drives the entire story forward as players progress in the ongoing war for liberty across the galaxy.

Helldivers 2 revealed a new major order for democracy lovers to complete, tasking them to build a Democracy Space Station through four construction phases. This first mission is to liberate Turing from its alien inhabitants to allow for the construction of a state-of-the-art Xenoentomology Center to develop technology able to transport gigastructures like the Democracy Space Station. Once players complete this major order in Helldivers 2, they will be able to see the space station’s construction progress directly by looking up, as the structure will already be visible in the orbit of Gaellivare.

The effort to build the station will unfold in four phases, with each phase unlocking new features or facilities on the station.
