Marksman Rifles in Helldivers 2 could be getting a major buff soon, according to a recent poll conducted by a member of Arrowhead Game Studios. The Helldivers 2 online community appears to agree that Marksman Rifles are one of the most underperforming weapon categories in the game so far.
Arrowhead Game Studios continues its post-launch support for Helldivers 2 with the Democratic Detonation Premium Warbond, which features new weapons, items, and cosmetics. The most recent Helldivers 2 update fixed issues that would cause the game to crash and improved overall stability. Additionally, the update introduced a revamped stats UI, allowing players to easily recognize a weapon's strengths and weaknesses before putting it to use in actual missions. Many players aren't happy with the state of Marksman Rifles in the game, however.

As reported by Screen Rant, Helldivers 2 community manager Baskinator recently opened a poll in the game's official Discord server, asking what they think about Marksman Rifles. Thus far, over 23,000 Discord users voted in the poll, with 17,785 users agreeing that Marksman Rifles need a rebalance since the weapon category is underpowered. Over 3,500 users voted that they did not use Marksman Rifles, showing that there is a degree of apathy toward the weapon in Helldivers 2. Unsurprisingly, nearly 0% of the voters picked the option that stated Marksman Rifles were over-powered. As a result, a major rebalance or buff for Marksman Rifles could be coming soon, as Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios continues to gather feedback from users in the server.
Helldivers 2 Poll Results Show Players Wanting Buffs to Marksman Rifles
Many Helldivers 2 players believe Marksman Rifles are not powerful enough due to the lower fire rate, lower overall damage output, and small magazine capacity. The slow aim speed is another issue involving the weapon, leading players to forgo using Marksman Rifles entirely in favor of some of Helldivers 2's best primary weapons. The Exploding Crossbow appears to be a very popular choice right now, excelling in many areas that Marksman Rifles are lacking in, including overall firepower.
A balance patch can be beneficial for Marksman Rifles and other weapons in Helldivers 2, encouraging players to change their loadouts and try something new while contributing to Super Earth. Updates and new content releases will also help maintain the community's growth and promote Helldivers 2's sales momentum over the long term as well. Fortunately, Arrowhead Game Studios plans on making major changes to the game through free updates in 2024.
