Helldivers 2 has just recruited a new batch of players to the cause, and there's a whole lot for Xbox newcomers to wrap their heads around. Put simply, Helldivers 2 has come a long way since its February 2024 launch. A third enemy faction joined the never-ending galactic war, a ton of new Stratagems have been added, weapons can now be leveled up and customized, and a total of 16 Warbonds are now available, each one bringing their own unique suite of weapons, armors, and boosters.

As if that wasn't enough for new Xbox players to sink their teeth into, Helldivers 2 is about to bring yet another major update to the table. On September 2, Helldivers 2's 'Into the Unjust' update launches for all platforms, bringing with it a 'Dust Devils' Premium Warbond and some big additions and tweaks to the Terminid faction, including new planetary areas that might render players' best weapons completely useless.

Helldivers 2: What to Expect From the Into the Unjust Update

Most Stratagems Probably Won't Work Underground

For a while now, Helldivers 2's Terminids have been releasing a spore-like virus across the galaxy called 'The Gloom'. In the upcoming Into the Unjust update, the Helldivers are finally embarking on a bold mission to rid the galaxy of this viral threat, a mission that will take them directly to the Terminids' Hive Worlds.

These Hive Worlds will feature a wealth of new mission objectives for players to engage in, many of which revolve around Helldivers 2's new underground Terminid hives. In these claustrophobic tunnels, squads will experience a challenge unlike anything they've faced before, with their arsenal of high-tech weapons being severely limited by their new surroundings.

According to the recent post on PlayStation Blog, "your Super Destroyer won't be able to give you full support" in Helldivers 2's new Terminid tunnels. Given the underground nature of the cave network, it seems unlikely players will be able to call in Helldivers 2's best Stratagems, with their Super Destroyer's Orbital Laser and the Eagle's 500KG bombs, and other powerful weapons presumably being unable to reach the player's location.

That said, there are some Stratagems that players might still be able to rely on. Any support items or weapons like the "Guard Dog" backpack or the Quasar Cannon might be able to be called in before players descend into the depths of the Terminid Hive Worlds.

Helldivers 2's new Dust Devils Warbond should help with these underground excursions, with its portable napalm launcher and speargun Stratagems sounding like good options for heavy-duty mobile weapons.

Helldivers 2's New Underground Tunnels Might Force Players to Adapt

Not being able to rely on Helldivers 2's best stratagems is going to add a serious layer of challenge to the game, one that veteran players might relish adapting to. For instance, players who normally rely on explosive weapons and equipment might need to shake up their strategy, with splash damage likely being a severe issue in the tight tunnels. There could be a lot of fun to be had trying to find the ideal loadout for Helldivers 2's new underground areas.

The Player Using a Flamethrower Against Termanids

Helldivers 2's Into the Unjust update is also bringing a few new Terminid units to the game, including variants of the Warriors, Bile Spewers, and Chargers that burrow underground, and a new flying enemy called the Dragonroach.

This might also give Helldivers 2's most underrated Stratagems an opportunity to shine. A good portion of Helldivers 2's support weapons have become redundant in the wake of newer Stratagems, but these underground areas might actually be the best place for weapons like the M-105 Stalwart and MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun.
