Vox Engines are super heavy Automaton units fitted with all sorts of weapons in Helldivers 2. They're similar to Illuminate Leviathans in terms of battlefield presence, but unlike squid gunships, Vox Engines are much easier to take down. Overwhelming force is the go-to solution for problems like these, but if you want to be more surgical with how you take Vox Engines out, there is a way to do so. This guide covers Vox Engine weakspots as well as the best weapons you can use to destroy them in Helldivers 2.
Best Tips to Liberate Cyberstan in Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 - Machinery of Oppression takes players to Cyberstan. With new Cyborg enemies and missions, these tips will ensure liberation.
Helldivers 2 Vox Engine Weaknesses & Weak Spots
If you want to take the direct approach, then any of the following support weapons are effective against Vox Engines:
- Recoilless Rifle
- C4 Pack
- Leveller
- Solo Silo
- Portable Hellbomb
- Thermite Grenades
- Bastion Tank
Aim for the faceplate or the back of the upper torso as much as possible. You'll need to hit Vox Engines several times with any of these weapons in order to take one down (except for the Portable Hellbomb). As a team, concentrate your fire against one Vox Engine at a time to maximize kill potential.
The Portable Hellbomb is the best support weapon to use against Vox Engines, but there's considerable downtime in between uses.
As for stratagems, try using the following:
- Orbital Gatling Barrage can chew up a Vox Engine, but only if the latter stays within range for long enough.
- Eagle 500KG and Orbital Precision Strike won't one-tap Vox Engines, but they work well when used together with the support weapons listed above. Keep in mind that Megafactories are littered with AA guns, limiting Eagle stratagems significantly.
- Anti-Tank Mines soften up an entire train of Vox Engines, making them easier to destroy with conventional weapons.
The Vent Method
If you're facing just one Vox Engine, you can easily blow it up with just your weapons and grenades. Vox Engines have vents that open up once you destroy the heat sinks on their backs. The vents work much like the ones used by Fabricators; throw a grenade inside, and the Vox Engine is toast.
The easiest way to do this is with a high DPS primary weapon like the Trident from the Siege Breakers Warbond:
- Run underneath the Vox Engine and destroy the heat sink in its underbelly.
- Run behind the Vox Engine and shoot the two heat sinks in its lower body.
- Throw a grenade inside the vent that appears between the two previous heat sinks.
You can also make a vent pop out by destroying the heat sinks on the Vox Engine's upper body, but the vent itself is all the way up the enemy's top side, which is much harder to throw grenades at.
