A Helldivers 2 support agent has confirmed the Eruptor has not been nerfed in a recent patch but bugged instead, responding to several complaints from players raising tickets over the weapon not working as expected. However, the response did not conclude the saga, as the Arrowhead Game Studios community manager later added to the controversy. Past Helldivers 2 bugs have often added another comical element to gameplay, but some recent changes to weapons are beginning to aggravate fans of the shooter.

Helldivers 2 recently added its third enemy faction, and that may be plenty to keep players occupied through the years to come.

Posted on reddit by p_visual, a screenshot of the player’s ticket email to Arrowhead was shared on the Helldivers subreddit, flagging the Eruptor’s faulty shrapnel pattern to player support. It was noted the weapon’s shrapnel pattern was not working as described in the patch notes but instead dispersed in the direction of the player, similar to Helldivers 2's grenade launcher that players flagged for having a range bug. A support agent replied noting that this issue had already been fixed, confirming the problem was not a nerf, as players previously thought. However, the problem continued when Arrowhead's community manager entered the chat and stated the agent had made a mistake. Instead, the manager noted the Eruptor was “overperforming because of a glitch” but it is now “functioning as intended.” The weapon now spreads consistently with Arrowhead’s “original intention,” which includes hitting the player.

Helldivers 2's Eruptor Has Not Been Nerfed but Arrowhead Is Not Happy With Its Current Performance

Unlike the enjoyment players had with the rare Helldivers 2 bug that fused the Grenade Launcher and Diligence Counter Sniper into an overpowered weapon, the community is not happy with the Eruptor’s performance, and many have been left rather confused. Most were wondering why the weapon was considered overpowered by Arrowhead in the first place, and the shrapnel change is eliminating players and teammates more often now. Luckily, the community manager noted the devs were looking into the issue, as they aren’t “super happy” with the Eruptor’s current performance either.

Arrowhead has remained very transparent with the player base thus far, maintaining a proactive relationship with the community regarding content quality and bug fixes. However, one thing CEO Shams Jorjani is remaining tight-lipped on is Helldivers 2’s content roadmap. The boss made several points justifying the game’s undocumented plans for the future, explaining that this method produces more unique updates and allows the studio’s active communication with the community to continue.
