Summary

  • After the battle for Super Earth, players are struggling against the aggressive Automatons and Terminids.
  • Players may have trouble adapting to fighting the two factions again after focusing on the Illuminate.
  • To improve combat against Automatons and Terminids, players should adjust difficulty levels and experiment with new equipment.

When it comes to the exciting events that have happened in Helldivers 2, the battle for Super Earth can be seen as the one that outshines everything. The fight against the Illuminate faction's invasion of the planet provided many with fun and exhilarating moments, but everyone knew that it wouldn't last. The successful defense of Super Earth was inevitable, thanks to the time and effort given by every contributor to reach it. However, with its conclusion also came an unexpected revelation, one that possibly many who continue to play have experienced.

On the day on which the battle for Super Earth concluded, the Illuminate forces were driven back, forcing them to regroup for a potential invasion in the future. With their aggression temporarily halted, players were left with the Automatons and the Terminids to take on, and somehow, it's as if the two are more deadly than ever before. Since there are no known major changes that Helldivers 2 has made to either faction, one would think that they shouldn't be an issue, given that people should be used to dealing with them by now. That doesn't seem to be the case now, and it's likely due to having to suddenly return to engaging them in combat after the Super Earth event.

Helldivers 2’s Heart Of Democracy Update Proves an Uncomfortable Truth

As the stakes of Helldivers 2’s Galactic War reach a new all-time high, an unresolved controversy continues to divide the game’s community.

Why Players Could Be Finding It Hard to Fight the Automatons and Terminids Now

If there's one question that the battle for Super Earth poses after its conclusion, it's how the two factions feel much harder to deal with now than they were before. As for why that seems to be the case for a number of players, it could be because of a few factors:

  • Compared to the more organized chaos that's somewhat expected from battles with the Illuminate, fighting the insect-like Terminids is a relentless assault of aggressiveness, which some may have forgotten since coming back from the battle of Super Earth
  • The Automatons share a similarity with the Terminids in that they can be extremely aggressive but with the advantage of having weapons, potentially throwing off many after getting used to Illuminate's seemingly less chaotic engagements
  • Players may have likely forgotten what equipment to use against the different difficulties of the Automatons and the Terminids after spending a lot of time learning what's best against the Illuminate, making the two seem much harder than they're supposed to be

While what's mentioned is just speculation, they likely possess some degree of truth as to why people are having trouble with the two factions now rather than before. They aren't any harder than they have always been, and players can overcome them so long as they make the effort to adapt back to how they took them on before the battle for Super Earth.

What Players Can Do to Get Used to Fighting the Automatons and Terminids Again

For those who have been having trouble dealing with either faction since stopping the Illuminate invasion, one thing that can be done is to take advantage of the different difficulty levels offered by Helldivers 2 as options. Making the fights easier is something players should consider doing, as it allows them to slowly get used to how the Automatons and Terminids should be dealt with. Not only that, but it's also a good opportunity to try and experiment with new equipment that could make fights against them easier, which can help in diversifying one's loadout and being more prepared for the tougher difficulties.

With the defeat of the Illuminate, the future of Helldivers 2 looks unpredictable, but if one thing is clear, it's that the Terminids and Automatons will still look to try and ruin it. The conclusion of the battle for Super Earth can be seen as a blessing, as it serves as a reminder to players that the two factions are a threat that shouldn't be ignored, and that it's best to learn to deal with them again now, as they could get even stronger in eventual updates.
