Heartopia’s Winter Frost Season introduces the game’s first-ever seasonal fish variants known as Frostspore Fish. These icy creatures are only available for a limited time. So, if you want to add them to your fish collection, you need to catch them before the season ends. This guide covers everything you need to know about catching Frostspore Fish in Heartopia.
Daily Onsen Egg Locations in Heartopia
Here's a step-by-step guide to locating and photographing all 16 eggs in Heartopia's Onsen Egg Promise quest.
All Frostspore Fish in Heartopia
During the Winter Frost event, there are five Frostspore Fish you can catch. Frostspore Fish are regular sea creatures that have been affected by the unusually cold waters surrounding Heartopia. While they’re not dangerous, they’ve taken on a striking, frozen appearance that makes them stand out from their normal counterparts.
The names of the currently available Frostspore Fish are:
- Frostspore King Crab
- Frostspore Ocean Sunfish
- Frostspore Puffer Fish
- Frostspore Seahorse
The fifth Frostspore Fish will unlock in Week 2 of the event.
Before you can start catching Frostspore Fish, you’ll need to speak to Vanya, the fishing hobby mentor. During the event, she temporarily relocates to the northern beach of Onsen Mountain. Vanya will give you a short introductory quest related to the Winter Frost Season. Once you complete it, Frostspore Fish will officially unlock and begin spawning in the Old Sea.
How to Catch Frostspore Fish in Heartopia
Unlike standard fish in Heartopia, Frostspore Fish do not follow the usual fishing restrictions. All Frostspore Fish can only be caught in one place: the Old Sea. It is located off the coast of Onsen Mountain. This is the only fishing area where these seasonal variants spawn, so fishing anywhere else won’t work.
One of the biggest advantages of Frostspore Fish is how accessible they are. They are available all day and spawn during all weather types. So, all you have to do is be at Fishing Level 1 to catch the Frostspore Fish.
This makes Frostspore Fish ideal for newer players or anyone who wants to experience the Winter Frost Season without grinding fishing levels first.
Although Frostspore Fish are easier to access than many rare fish, they’re still less common than standard sea fish. Fishing random shadows will eventually get you there, but the most efficient method is to use Mermaid Fish Attractors.
Mermaid Fish Attractors spawn multiple fish shadows at once, significantly increasing your chances of pulling up one or two Frostspore Fish per session. While they don’t guarantee a catch, they save a lot of time if you’re trying to complete the full collection.
