To expand your backpack in Heartopia, you need to visit Ka Ching. You can find her at the General Store, usually located near the outskirts of the city center. Look for the shop icon on your map and head straight there whenever your inventory starts filling up.
When you talk to Ka Ching and open the General Store menu, scroll down until you see the Backpack Expansion options. Backpack expansions directly add slots to your inventory, while warehouse expansions increase your long-term storage capacity.
The first Backpack expansion is free. After that, additional upgrades cost Wishing Stars. Each expansion increases your carrying capacity.
Wait for the backpack and warehouse expansions to go on sale before purchasing. Ka Ching regularly offers discounts of up to 60% on backpack and warehouse upgrades. An expansion that normally costs 25 stars will be much cheaper on sale. Purchasing expansions only when they’re on sale can save you enough stars to buy multiple upgrades instead of just one.
How to Get More Wishing Stars
One of the easiest ways to get more Wishing Stars is by completing Resident Requests. NPCs around town post daily requests asking for items or small favors. Finishing these tasks rewards you with Wishing Stars along with other useful resources, so it’s worth checking them regularly as part of your daily routine.
How to Unlock and Use Warehouse Storage
Warehouse storage becomes available around DG Member Level 2. Once unlocked, you can access it by going to your house, opening your inventory, and selecting the warehouse option. From there, you can store items directly instead of carrying them in your backpack.
This is especially useful for furniture, crafting materials, or seasonal items you don’t need immediately. As your DG Member level increases, your warehouse capacity also improves.
If your inventory is overflowing, selling items is one of the fastest fixes. Mr. Albert buys bugs, crops, and other items in exchange for gold. If you’re doing the Bird Watching hobby and have extra cards, you can give up to five per day to Bailey J for rewards.
