Hearthstone is getting into the spirit of the season by giving away a bunch of free packs to all players. This amazing giveaway is a part of Hearthstone's celebration of Winter Veil, Warcraft’s iconic Christmas event.
Players who log in to Hearthstone between now and January 31 should make sure to visit the in-game shop, where they can claim 10 packs for free. What’s more, new Hearthstone players can get an additional 50 packs during this time period, for a grand total of 60 packs.
The first group of free packs can be claimed by any players who have completed the in-game Hearthstone tutorial before the deadline. The new player bonus packs are only available to players who create new Battle.net accounts between now and the promotion's conclusion. In both cases, the free packs are evenly-distributed between the previous five card sets, excluding March of the Lich King: Forged in the Barrens, United in Stormwind, Fractured in Alterac Valley, Voyage to the Sunken City, and Murder at Castle Nathria.
Were that not enough to get players into the holiday spirit, Hearthstone is also beginning a Winter Veil event on December 21, once the March of the Lich King launch event period has concluded. The Lich King is forcing the inventors of Ironforge to make weapons for the Scourge instead of toys for all the good girls and boys. Players can complete daily tasks to earn progress in the event and save Winter Veil, earning two standard packs, one March of the Lich King pack, and Christmas-themed Battlegrounds skins for Toki and Ini in the process.
Hearthstone is also beginning a new Battle Bash, with 10 more Battlegrounds cosmetic rewards for players to unlock. All players get one reward for free, and can unlock more by activating the Battle Bash for $10. Doing so immediately earns two more rewards, and unlocks the ability to earn another each time they place in the top four in Hearthstone's Battlegrounds mode until the period ends.
With two new Winter Veil Tavern Brawls on December 21 and December 28, and new holiday deals in the shop, now is the perfect time for new and returning players to get into Hearthstone. This huge gift of free packs is one of the largest Hearthstone has given out in its history. Forged in the Barrens, United in Stormwind, and Fractured in Alterac Valley cycle out of Standard in a few months, so snagging these packs may be a good way for players to pick up some cards that will become a little harder to get once the next Hearthstone set drops.
Hearthstone is available now for mobile and PC.
