The Year of the Raptor is coming to Hearthstone soon, with a big refresh to the Core set and the start its competitive year coming on March 25. The first of three expansions for the year, Into the Emerald Dream, releases at the same time, adding 145 new cards that introduce the Dark Gift and Imbue keywords, massive Wild God minions, and the Choose One mechanic to every class.

However, fans can get a bunch of free packs well before then. To celebrate the Year of the Raptor and the new expansion, Hearthstone is holding not one, but two Twitch Drop events. By watching two hours of Hearthstone on Twitch during the Into the Emerald Dream Theorycrafting event on March 13, players can get two packs from the new expansion. Then, during the three-day Community Days event starting March 18, watching six additional hours will net fans 10 more free packs: three from the Year of the Pegasus, three from Hearthstone's previous The Great Dark Beyond set, and four for Into the Emerald Dream.

How to Get Hearthstone Year of the Raptor Twitch Drops

  • Connect one’s Battle.net and Twitch accounts
  • Watch any streamers in the Hearthstone category on Twitch from March 13 at 9 AM PT through March 14 at 9 AM PT for two hours to earn two Into the Emerald Dream packs
  • Then, watch six hours of streams from March 18 at 10 AM PT through March 22 at 10 AM PT to get 10 additional card packs:
    • 2 hours: 3 Year of the Pegasus packs
    • 4 hours: 3 The Great Dark Beyond packs
    • 6 hours: 4 Into the Emerald Dream packs

  • Once complete, claim the rewards from the Twitch Drops inventory
  • Into the Emerald Dream packs can be opened starting March 18

Into the Emerald Dream doesn’t release until March 25, but players can open the expansion’s card packs starting March 18. Though these cards won’t be legal in any Standard or Wild decks until launch, fans can use them in the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl – a week-long mini-tournament in which each run lasts until they get six wins or three losses, with greater rewards the further they get. Each player gets one free entry into the special Tavern Brawl, with subsequent entries costing 2 Tavern Tickets for 300 gold.

March 18 also heralds a massive balance patch for cards that are staying in Standard in the Year of the Raptor, as well as buffs and reversions for some that are entering Wild. Needless to say, 2025 is going to be an exciting time to play Hearthstone.
