The new Tourist keyword from Hearthstone’s next expansion lets players put cards from a second class into their decks during deckbuilding. This mechanic is coming as a part of the Perils in Paradise card set coming to Hearthstone on July 23.
Perils in Paradise is the second set coming to Hearthstone in the Year of the Pegasus. The expansion is themed after an Azerothian summer vacation at The Marin, a new resort established by the eponymous rogue who first debuted in the Kobolds and Catacombs set in 2017.
How Hearthstone's New Duo Battlegrounds Work
Take on the Battlegrounds with a friend in this new, exciting game mode in Hearthstone, complete with new cards and gameplay features.
Among the mechanics coming in Perils in Paradise, none are more game-changing than Tourists: a new keyword found on a Legendary card in each Hearthstone class. When players add this card to their decks, they immediately get access to all the Perils in Paradise cards for a second specific class, save their Tourist card. The Tourist minions themselves also have powerful game effects that synergize with both their original and Tourist classes.

At press time, only two Tourists have been revealed: Sunsapper Lynessa for Paladin, and Buttons for Death Knight, the newest class in Hearthstone. Sunsapper Lynessa is a Rogue Tourist that double casts any spells that cost two or less mana, while Buttons is a Shaman Tourist that draws a spell of every spell school when played. Players can expect the rest of the Tourists to be revealed along with each class’ card set over the next month.
That isn’t all Perils in Paradise has in store for Hearthstone fans. Players will find six drink-themed spells that can be cast three times each, as well as six Location cards that can reopen early if certain conditions are met. In total, Perils in Paradise has 145 new cards when it releases on July 23, but fans can get the Marin the Manager Legendary for free right now simply by logging in to Hearthstone.
In the meantime, Hearthstone has several other updates to liven up the game. Buddies have officially returned to the Battlegrounds game mode, and Genn Greymane and Baku the Mooneater have brought their powerful deckbuilding effects to the Core set until the next expansion releases. The Midsummer Fire Festival in-game event returns on June 25 with six free packs and the V-07-TR-0N Rogue skin, and nine new decks are coming to Hearthstone’s Whizbang’s Heroes Twist format for July. Needless to say, it seems like things are heating up for Hearthstone this summer.
