Hearthstone has officially revealed The Lost City of Un’Goro, a new expansion featuring Map cards, the Kindred keyword, and the return of Quests. Players will return to the Un’Goro Crater in this new Hearthstone card set starting July 8, though they can earn two cards from the expansion in the shop for free right now.
During Warcraft Direct last year, Blizzard surprised fans by revealing all three Hearthstone expansions for the Year of the Raptor. Originally codenamed "The Shrouded City," the second set would bring players back to the setting of Journey to Un’Goro, the fifth Hearthstone expansion from 2017.
Hearthstone: 10 Best Cards From The Great Dark Beyond Expansion, Ranked
The Great Dark Beyond was Hearthstone’s final expansion of 2024 and brought in some powerful new cards, mechanics, and the Dranei creature type.
Now, Hearthstone has officially revealed this expansion, complete with a new name. The Lost City of Un’Goro is a 145-card set that goes back to the wild World of Warcraft zone of Un’Goro Crater to discover a mysterious city of the Tortollan in the heart of Fire Mountain. Fans can collect new versions of familiar characters like Elise the Navigator or Endbringer Umbra, alongside fresh faces like Loh, a famed Tortollan explorer, and Niri, a Gnome Hunter who lives in the crater. Players can expect this set to contain untamed elementals, Titan ruins and experiments, and wild dinosaurs in abundance.

Cards with the new Kindred keyword gain additional effects if another card sharing the same minion type or spell school was played the previous turn, a mechanic used by Elementals in past expansions. There are also six Map cards, which allow fans to discover one card, and then choose a second one if they play the first on the same turn. Lastly, a new Legendary Quest will be available for each class, such as the Death Knight’s Corpse-focused Reanimate the Terror, along with seven Story cards that hearken back to the rewards for the original Quests of Journey to Un’Goro in Hearthstone, such as the Hunter’s Story of Carnassa.
Ahead of the set’s launch on July 8, players can purchase The Lost City of Un’Goro Bundle for $50 to get 60 packs, two random Legendaries, and the Spiritsinger Umbra card back. The $80 Mega Bundle includes 80 normal packs, 10 Golden packs, and a random normal and Golden Legendary, as well as four Tavern Tickets for Hearthstone's Arena, and the Spiritsinger Umbra card back and Warlock Hero Skin. Those who buy both bundles can then purchase the $60 Sequence Bundle to get another 30 normal packs, 10 Golden packs, and two random Signature Legendary cards.
Fans don’t have to wait until July to start getting cards from the set, however. Hearthstone players can log in to earn the Endbringer Umbra Legendary for free right now, and can claim the Blob of Tar card from the shop at no additional cost. Then, from June 17 until the expansion launches, they can earn the Dissolving Ooze and Sharp-Eyed Lookout cards via the Secrets of Un’Goro event.
