Hailee Steinfeld joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) through the Hawkeye television series. She is open to returning to the MCU and working again with a Black Widow star.
Steinfeld made her MCU debut in Hawkeye. She co-starred with Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton) and portrayed Kate Bishop in the six-episode Disney Plus series. Her performance received praise from both critics and fans for bringing a fresh and energetic dynamic to the MCU. The audience was happy with her presence on the show, with many saying she was the highlight of the series and casting her as Kate was the production's best move. There are rumors that Steinfeld will reprise her beloved MCU role and appear in another project. However, Marvel hasn't confirmed her return to the franchise yet. Steinfeld, for her part, was open to reprising her role and even wanted to work again with another Marvel star.

Steinfeld sat down for an interview with Collider's Taylor Gates. During the chat, she was asked about her potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She jokingly said that those questions would get her in trouble. "I wish I could say it all. I wish I knew it all," she said. Although the Bumblebee star didn't confirm an official return to the MCU, she expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with Thunderbolts* star Florence Pugh. The Don't Worry Darling actress appeared in multiple Hawkeye episodes where she interacted with Steinfeld's Kate. Yelena and Kate's scenes blend tension with humor. Their relationship evolves from adversaries to a complex, budding camaraderie. Steinfeld's interest in working again with Pugh, whom she describes as "a powerhouse," is understandable. She added:
She's wonderful. I would do anything to work more with Florence, especially in the Kate and Yelena world. I think we'd have a lot of fun.
Reflecting on her working experience with Pugh, Steinfeld remembered how the Black Widow star arrived on set. They had to film a scene with "very heavy" dialogue. They immediately agreed on how to approach it and their tandem was one of the duos MCU fans approved. "We hit it off immediately, and we just had the best time together," Steinfeld added. Steinfeld is expected to join the upcoming Young Avengers TV series. There are rumors that Steinfeld's Kate is among the main cast, along with Kamala Kahan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), Cassie Lang/Stature/Stinger (Kathryn Newton), Tommy Maximoff/Speed (Jett Klyne), and Billy Maximoff/Wiccan (Joe Locke), to name a few. However, there's no official casting or release date announced for the anticipated series. Steinfeld could also return for another Hawkeye series.
Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum previously told Entertainment Weekly in an exclusive interview that Hawkeye is one of the TV shows they will likely renew for another season. He added that "we're looking for opportunities to do that" and considering doing "multiple seasons." Since Hawkeye could return, hopefully, Steinfeld would get to work with Pugh again on the show. Yelena and Kate's witty banter and palpable chemistry stood out with fans. Even critics loved the powerful pair. In fact, there are calls for a spinoff series featuring the duo because they make compelling partners. So, Steinfeld is not alone in wanting Kate to have a reunion with Yelena; Hawkeye fans love it too.
