Former Dragon Age: The Veilguard director Corinne Busche has recently been hired by Wizards of the Coast to work on an unannounced title at the Skeleton Key studio. At the moment, almost nothing is known about this upcoming project, except that the former Dragon Age: The Veilguard director will be part of it.
Corinne Busche was at EA between 2012 and 2024, working on popular projects such as The Sims 4. Busche became the director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard in 2022, soon after multiple leads had left the project, and helped ship the game. After its launch, Dragon Age: The Veilguard underperformed EA’s expectations, reaching only around 1.5 million players by the end of 2024 despite positive reviews. Then, in January 2025, Busche announced that she was leaving BioWare, but that her departure was unrelated to the game's commercial performance.

Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that Busche was hired to work at Skeleton Key. According to an interview with Wizards of the Coast’s head of digital gaming Dan Ayoub (via Game File), Busche has been hired to work on an unannounced project and will join members such as the former Dragon Age producer Christian Dailey in the studio.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Director Corinne Busche Gets Hired By Wizards of the Coast
Up until February, Skeleton Key was rumored to be working on two projects. However, one AAA horror game in development by Skeleton Key was reportedly canceled last month, with some employees being laid off. During the same interview, Ayoub explained that the decision to cancel one game was to pool its resources into the other one, rather than shutting down the studio, as some gamers expected.
It’s still unclear what game Busche will be working on, but it’s possible that Skeleton Key could be developing Baldur’s Gate 4 or another D&D-based RPG. A few weeks ago, Hasbro hyped Baldur’s Gate 4, as Ayoub said in another interview that “a lot of people” are interested in the game, and that there were plans at the company to use the property in the future, now that Larian Studios is officially not working on a sequel for the popular game. In any case, this is all speculation, and it’s currently impossible to know most details about the project Skeleton Key is working on.
