Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has been hotly anticipated by both Harry Potter and Pokemon GO fans since the game was first announced a couple of years back. And Niantic had said that Wizards Unite would be available on Friday, June 21, but as it turns out, iOS and Android users can download Harry Potter: Wizards Unite right now.
Those interested in downloading Harry Potter: Wizards Unite a day early simply need to visit the game's page on their respective app stores. In our own testing, it wouldn't let us download the game directly onto our device, but we were able to do the install through the game's listings on the App Store and Google Play Store sites. After downloading Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players can jump into the augmented reality version of the Wizarding World. Like Pokemon GO, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite features location-based gameplay, with players encouraged to explore the real world to advance their progress in the game. More features will be added later on, but there should be plenty for players to do at launch.
Something that may throw some Harry Potter fans off is the fact that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite actually takes place after the player has graduated Hogwarts. The player character is an adult, which means that the some of the usual stuff associated with Harry Potter, like House competitions, aren't a focus in the game.
Players will still be able to select what Hogwarts House they're from, but that's more for cosmetic purposes than anything else. The more important decision will be deciding what class to play, and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has three for fans to choose from - Auror, Professor, and Magizoologist.
Assuming the game is able to avoid the serious technical issues that plagued Pokemon GO at launch, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite could very well be the next big thing in mobile gaming.
