The Harry Potter universe is set to expand over the next several years through a new line of toys and board games created through a new multi-year partnership between Warner Bros. Discovery and Hasbro. The Harry Potter IP is one of the most valuable in the world, with its worth estimated at $25 billion as of 2025 figures, and the new toy and game partnership is just one example of how it's showing no signs of slowing down.

It has been nearly 25 years since the release of the franchise's first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, first hit theaters in November 2001, though the novel it was based on was first published in 1997. There's already been a lot of special events announced by Warner Bros. For the 25th anniversary, and many gaming fans are hoping that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is announced as part of the celebrations.

HBO’s Harry Potter TV Series Will Include One Big Change From The Iconic Movie Franchise

The Harry Potter TV series will feature one key difference from the movie franchise that should go down well with its fanbase.

Hasbro Will Roll Out a New Line of Harry Potter Toys and Games Starting in 2027

Now, a new line-up of toys and games is expected to roll out through the new deal with Hasbro, with the first products expected to be revealed later in 2026 and released in 2027. This will effectively make Hasbro the Harry Potter franchise's primary toy licensee for the immediate future. The partnership between the two companies is scheduled to run for multiple years, although no exact timeline has been publicly announced yet. While no sneak previews of the upcoming products have been shown, fans can expect to see several new Harry Potter board games, interactive plushes, dolls, action figures, collectibles, and role-playing materials hitting store shelves and online marketplaces in the coming years.

The official announcement also brings up the HBO reboot of the Harry Potter series that was first announced in April 2023, stating that the licensing agreement will cover toys and games based on the upcoming television show. “Our new agreement with Hasbro arrives as the world of Harry Potter celebrates the 25th anniversary of the first film and continues to expand its magical legacy — powered by one of the most passionate and enduring fan communities in entertainment history,” stated Robert Oberschelp, president of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, in a prepared statement. In addition to the upcoming television show, Oberschelp noted that the partnership will also see the production of new toys, games, and collectibles based on the classic Harry Potter films.

The timing of the HBO Harry Potter series' release window aligns itself well with the new partnership and Hasbro's plans moving forward. Casey Bloys, HBO's chair and content CEO, stated in an interview with Deadline published earlier in February that the new show's first episodes will roll out in early 2027. Filming for the show first began in July 2025, with new main cast members Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton cast in the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, respectively.

Historically, Mattel has been the primary creator and manufacturer of Harry Potter toys, with the business relationship between the company and the Harry Potter franchise dating back to the early 2000s. Additionally, The LEGO Group has had a strong partnership with the IP, producing numerous sets and builds over the years, including the 6,020-piece LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle, which retails on the company's official website for $469.99 and ranks as LEGO's 11th largest build ever made. It's unclear what will happen with old toy and game partnerships once the Hasbro contact kicks in, but considering at least eight new LEGO Harry Potter sets have been confirmed for 2026, it seems likely that brick-building fans will continue to get to enjoy their products in the future.
