It's been almost a year since we heard any sort of official update regarding Halo Infinite, the next installment in Microsoft's premiere first-person shooter series. However, that hasn't stopped developer 343 Industries from showcasing some behind-the-scenes footage of how the game is coming along ahead of its "Holiday 2020" release window.

The video, posted on the official Halo Instagram account, showcases one of the team members at 343 Industries recording the sounds for one of the game's guns using nothing but a slingshot to launch bullet casings, washers, and other miscellaneous objects. Last year the team even brought in the Technical Art Director's pug to record grunting noises that will be featured in the game.

It's unknown when this footage was recorded however, as the studio reported in late March that its staff has been working on the game from home in the wake of the currently ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Some have speculated that this could mean that the game may get pushed to early 2021, with the head of Xbox himself,  Phil Spencer, even claiming that while console's launch line-up (including Halo Infinite) could possibly be delayed, he doesn't expect the upcoming Xbox Series X to be pushed from its "Holiday 2020" release window.

While seeing these clips at least gives us hope that Halo Infinite is actually coming, the one question on everyone's mind is "When will we actually get to see the game ourselves?" While Microsoft has already announced plans to showcase some Xbox Series X games later this week, it has also stated that the showcase will feature no titles from Xbox Games Studios (presumably so the company can hold another event in June, when E3 was to take place). For now we will have to wait, but at least these videos give us some sort of glance at the status of Infinite's development, at least until we get to see some actual gameplay.

Halo Infinite is slated to launch in holiday 2020 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
