The multiplayer for Halo Infinite has been out for several months now, and since then, players have had a chance to sample the collection of maps included at release. While the developers have introduced some new and exciting locations, including Aquarius and Live Fire, some gamers hope that classic maps from past Halo games appear in the future. Among the many iconic maps, one that often gets brought up by nostalgic fans is Blood Gulch.
Introduced in the original Halo: Combat Evolved, Blood Gulch is a multiplayer map that supports 4-16 player matches. One aspect of the location that makes it unique is its position in the middle of a canyon, with towering mountains surrounding it. Recently, players have started talking about the prospects of bringing a version of this map back to the series in Halo Infinite.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as Lastnv started a discussion about the multiplayer in Halo Infinite. Specifically, they asked whether a version of Blood Gulch would work as a playable map. Unsurprisingly, numerous members of the Halo Infinite community on Reddit were quick to weigh in. With over 8,800 upvotes in less than a day, many had strong opinions about reviving the classic map.
Among the comments, the general consensus among fans was that the Halo: CE map or one of its remakes would be an excellent fit for the supposedly fixed Big Team Battle mode. In addition, some players said that they wanted to try and remake the stage themselves in Forge mode whenever the developers eventually release it. “I wanna bet there will be mad races to remake everything as fast as possible once forge drops,” TJ_Dot commented. Besides talking about the prospects of bringing the map back in Halo Infinite, some fans could not resist referencing the classic Red vs. Blue series episode that took place at this location. “We still won't know why we are here,” demonj00 joked about including Blood Gulch in the game.
While players wanted Blood Gulch added, some proposed that an entire legacy map playlist could be a good fit for Halo Infinite. “Nothing wrong with keeping the greatest hits in the rotation,” Arctica23 commented. Another Reddit user known as Cookie-Choice suggested that Lockout and Battle Creek could also make nice additions to a legacy playlist. Some other maps mentioned by the community included Sidewinder and Valhalla.
It will be interesting to see what 343 Industries has in store for Halo Infinite in the weeks ahead. Hopefully, its plans include introducing Blood Gulch or one of its remakes into the game for nostalgic fans. While it seems like only time will tell, the next best chance for a new map could be at the start of Season 2 in May.
Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
