Halo Infinite fans will have a new chance to check out a special edition of Game Fuel, as the Halo theme of the Mountain Dew drink is set to return. The reintroduction of Halo Game Fuel is happening as Halo Infinite celebrates the legacy of Halo 3.
The Halo edition of Mountain Dew Game Fuel first started with Halo 3. Releasing in 2007, this version of the drink coincided with the launch of the iconic game, helping to build hype for Bungie’s third Halo installment. Unfortunately, this Mountain Dew Game Fuel edition was meant to be available for only a limited time. While Game Fuel promotional flavors have returned a number of other times for games, such as World of Warcraft in 2009, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in 2011, and even Halo 4 in 2012, fans have been waiting years for another Halo edition. However, that is about to change.
In a post on Twitter, the official Halo account announced the revival of Mountain Dew’s Halo Game Fuel. The post revealed this classic flavor will return on November 6 and shared a video hyping its comeback. The clip started with someone holding a can of the original Halo Game Fuel, complete with an image of the Master Chief and the Halo 3 logo. After a few moments, the soft drink was shaken, and the video transitioned to a new version of the Mountain Dew limited-edition flavor. The new artwork displayed the Citrus Cherry description and had pictures of John-117 in his Halo Infinite MJOLNIR armor and the AI known as The Weapon. The logos for Halo Infinite and Xbox were also visible at the top of the can.
Given the popularity of the first run of the limited-edition flavor for Halo 3, it is no surprise to see many members of the gaming community excited about the revival of Halo Game Fuel. Since the news, many nostalgic fans have voiced their approval, with the Twitter post gaining thousands of likes. The official announcement from the Halo account seemed to realize the significance to many longtime fans, as it said, “Feels like 2007 again.”
This news about the return of Halo Game Fuel comes as 343 Industries has more plans for Halo Infinite. In addition to the soft drink flavor, the game will reportedly feature in-game nods to Mountain Dew, including several cosmetics and a map themed around the brand. Furthermore, the developer appears to be adding a playlist of Halo 3 maps for nostalgic fans to check out.
It is worth pointing out that there is even more Halo news beyond this Mountain Dew collaboration. Season 5 of Halo Infinite launches on October 17, promising to bring a fresh battle pass, more modes, and new maps. In addition, a new report has suggested that 343 Industries has begun working on a new campaign for the series. Unfortunately, nothing regarding this new single-player experience has been officially confirmed by the developer. Regardless, there seems to be a lot to look forward to for Halo fans.
Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
